Butner would be great, have campground available for bowhunters for 30 dollars a year including with NCBA membership
Organizing something in the Central Deer Zone has the advantage of bow season starting on 9/7 and Black Powder not before Nov. 2. Leaving almost 7 weeks to find a good date. Northeastern and Southeastern season has black powder coming in late September and regular gun season on October 12. So, it all depends on what you guys are up for.
Looking at the map, Uwahrie seems to be the most central location.
Need some help. I went to renew my license and see conflicting information. One part of the site says if you did not purchase a license prior to 2013 you have to complete a hunter Ed (online course + 2 hr review at one of their locations). On the NC hunter education site there is this:
Do you need North Carolina Hunting education?
You need education if you are a first-time hunter buying a hunting license in North Carolina or if you are under 16 years old and plan to hunt without an adult.
Site will not let me purchase this year's license without a hunter Ed certificate #. I assume I need the hunter Ed but anyone have info on this for certain?
Good luck!I’m in uwharrie....right now. In a hammock. Waiting on some ungodly hour to roll around. There’s 2-3 campgrounds in here. One has tent/RV (power and water) that we used to use back in the keeping days.
And for extra credit. Wearing the saddle hunter shirt. Didn’t even plan that. Ha.
Good luck tomorrow. Was out here last weekend and found a ton of tracks. Now if I can only find them mythical creatures that made them.
Thanks to @Bwhana for getting back in the map and focusing in here. Feeling pretty good about my site, as long as no one else finds it first. I did find a back up near a farm, but no sign there. Just one of those “they should be here” places.
Now then, get your equipment--your quiver and bow--and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.

Yes its Granville county. There is a lot of archery land Out here. The land is great and there are some nice deer. Let me know when you want to scout ill show u aroundI was wanting to scout that area this winter, but didn't get a chance to. How is that area?? That's in Granville county isnt it?
Ill be gone that weekSo, I have no local knowledge at Butner or Uwahrie. How about a date mid October. By then it should be cooler and the skeeters on their way out. How about the Columbus Day weekend? October 12 is a Saturday.
How about meeting up on Saturday, who ever wants to arrive on Friday and camp out do so, same for Saturday night. Nothing is written in stone, just putting it out there. Still need some input about where to meet and which campground works best. Further, any reservations/registrations for the campground to be made?
So i have not had a chance to use the saddle prior to this morning, i was like how hard can it be.. Lol harder then i thought, i cut my hawk helium sticks and was using a black dimond 5 steps to get higher. Man bad mistake, i was struggling to find my steps when a doe blew. So needless to say im in a ladder stand hopefully saving my hunt.
Ill be gone that week
Ok i have no issue with the platform and stick. I am a very experienced hunter and have been using a run and gun set up for a long time. I did get into the stand later after the hunt. No issue with the saddle or the platform. Just need to figure out the aider so i dont take as long to get into the saddle.
Where do you get 2 step aider?I can almost guarantee you the 5-step aider is your issue. I refuse to use more than a 2-step aider anymore. Any longer and it just isn’t sturdy enough, and/or moves around on me too much.
Drop back to a 1 or 2 step “carry as you go” aider, and I bet most of your issues resolve themselves. Dropping weight as far as possible is addictive at first, but some weight is worth it to make everything bulletproof and instinctual. There is something to be said about your step ALWAYS being where you expect it in the dark, and not having to flail your leg around looking for it!!!!

Make one using tubular webbing. The commercial models all have short, choppy steps. Make one with 20-24" steps if you do. YouTube videos will show you how to tie them, very easy.Where do you get 2 step aider?
