New Aerohunter saddle?

It looks like the buckle is sewn on but the lineman's belt would be replaceable.

This is personal preference but I don't like that it only comes off the right side of the saddle and hooks on the left. I had 2 shoulder surgeries and have less mobility with my left side so I have been having it come off my left hip and hook on the right for about 12 years now lol. Would be nice if that was an option or switchable somehow.

I agree. I always have the lineman’s daisy chained on my left hip and hook to my right. Which I think most right handed people would prefer….lol

Yeah but in this case the adjustment is still on the right side. And since the belt will be on the right side when not using it, you don't have to worry about it interfering with your bow string.

i see…. Interesting… guess I will see how that is when it gets here.

An integrated webbing lineman's belt - who's asking for this? Who's swapping out their current lineman's ropes for webbing belt? I'm so confused on how this came to be an option. For everyone saying that you can cut it off or remove it, it doesn't look like there's two lineman's loops. There's only one with AA buckle on the other side. I have the original kestrel and have been thinking about upgrading the last 2 seasons to a newer model but w/ the Merlin and now this, I think I'm going to wait to see what they do next year.

I'm guessing the goal was to reduce the bulk and weight of the lineman's belt. Which is fine, but I do miss having the right side loop, since that's where I attach my autoblock when I rappel.

What I don't understand is I hear all these valid points, Areohunter is a top notch company. Did they not ask themselves these same questions??

Dude I’m 6’2” 34/36 waist and I was rocking a size 1 flex which was one of the best fitting saddles I’ve owned. You had no business being in a size 2 lol

Worst saddle mistake I’ve made was listening to this forum and switching from a size 1 to a 2. I’m same height and weight as you

Totally agree with this. I’m 6’0” 195 with a 34 in waist and I’d never size up to a 2 from my size 1, having tried both.

That is a matter of personal preference. I'm 5' 10" and 190 with a 33" waist and the size 2 Flex was way more comfortable for me. I'm a sitter, not a leaner, so that factors in as well.

I always thought that too for any company. “do they not ask themselves the same questions we do?”

At least where I work, marketing personnel do more than just spreading the gospel of the product. They're the biggest representative of the customer in terms of guiding the design team. The marketing guy tells the design team what problems they're supposed to solve.

If the marketing guy is as bad as some griped earlier, that's probably partly why they have some of these design oversights. They need to be engaging their customers, understanding how they use their product and what pain points they have.

To be fair the only complaint I've seen is about an LB that none of us have used yet. I'm 50/50 on the idea but I'm open to the possibility of being surprised by it.

Coming from a seller/services/designer of equipment for heavy industry - a customer does not always know what he wants and needs. Sometimes offering the right thing is not offering what a customer has made up in his head.

having said that, the answer isn’t to just blindly put your foot down. It’s informing your customer of the tradeoffs of his purchasing decision prior to purchase, and then letting him decide what he wants.

But listening to this forum on how to build a saddle will turn the most even keeled gentleman into a nail biter. Heck half the people here don’t use saddles…

Really excellent point on sitting vs. leaning which I failed to take into consideration. I lean 99% of the time, which is certainly a factor in my sizing decision. It’s not as comfortable when I sit and I could see the benefit of a larger size in that case.

The only reason I say that they don’t necessarily ask the same questions we ask about is because if you spend any reasonable (or unreasonable) amount of time on this forum or the Saddle Hunter Nation FB group, you’ll see that a lot of guys do like to take their lineman belt all the way off. I mysef used to tie mine on to the left side loop and carabiner the right, since I started onesticking, I take mine all the way off since I rarely use it. Having a loop on each side just gives people the option to take it off if they rarely use it like myself.

agreed. If I assume they plan to sell their saddle to the denizens of this forum, shouldn’t they know that we can’t agree which camo pattern weighs the least? So that a restriction of what type and location of a LM would turn off a lot of people? Or generate a lot of conversation and thus hype. Devious!

I can totally understand this point, but it seems that they've staked their whole line of saddles on operating with an entirely new LB configuration. Why not offer the old flex and new shrike? I'm rooting for AH and love my kestrel but am just confused with the last 2 evolutions of saddles that they've had.
