New Gear Release 2022!

I'm not out at $900, but I dang sure ain't buying first gen or before somebody who isn't me pays up and hunts with it a season. I am curious to see what they come up with though. I sometimes miss my climber.

I've been pretty impressed with the stands they've made to date.

That $900 stand is gonna be $1250 by next season if we keep running at this rate.

XOP is supposed to be bringing back their Ambush climber late Summer or early Fall. It’s basically the Lone Wolf sit and climb. It’s supposed to be lighter than the previous version. Will also probably be about 1/3 of the price of the LWCG climber.

The LW Assault Hand climber weighed 14.7lbs. The XOP Shadow Hand climber was listed at like 18...closer to a Sit and Climb. 14lbs is going to be hard for XOP to top.

Reportedly, LWCG was saying 10-12lbs for the micro-climber. They have been over on weights in the past, but are improving so maybe it ends up 11-13lbs. 13lbs isn't going to excite me. 11lbs or under...they've my attention.

With 6lb hang-ons and sticks around a pound, this thing needs to be light. And if they can't hit 10-11lbs, it needs to be comfortable.

I guess we'll wait and see.

I don't know why they couldn't just release a machined hand climber top with a spreader between the arms at like 5.5lbs and make a bundle of cash.

Too much fanny pack design.

They'd get my money immediately.

And whoever ends up making a 10-12lb climbing stand will get my money too.

The lightest climbing tree stand available on the market in 2022 is the X-Stand X-1 Climbing Tree Stand weighing just 11 lbs!

lol

I had the Strike Force hand climber. I don’t remember the actual weight but it wasn’t noticeably heavy. I just thought it was a pain to climb with but maybe I didn’t practice with it enough. I’d sacrifice a couple of pounds to save $600 or so.

I get that.

I thought the LW Assault Hand Climber was a nice weight and pretty compact. I also thought it was a bit less versitile in complex climbing situations than the heavier sit and climb (I always had inventory of 2 of them). So we're not far off in thinking.

It's exactly why LWCG needs to come in 4lbs lighter than the Assault Hand Climber. Because for 1K, even though it's not climb to the stars capable, an ultralight hang on and superlight sticks are the same price and more versatile.

Yes. I have the Assault hand climber at 14lb, so if the LWCG isn't sub 11lb, they can keep it. Not worth $900+.

Although, a little niggling thought in my head asks what kinda flex you incur in a stand when you take it from 14-11ish lbs. I liked their ambush platform a lot, but it had a lot of flex compared to the similarly sized TL Mission. It wasn't noticable 8-12ft off the ground, facing the tree, from a saddle. But if my climber was flexing 30ft up in the air while I stood facing away from the tree with a slack body harness...

I don't know that I'm paying 1k for that kinda thrill.

I'd really like to see what they come up with. To me there's no substitute for a climber when you wanna climb high in the pines while mobile hunting on public land. Honestly, I'd rather have it weigh more if it worked better and most importantly PACKED well like their other offerings. But stand weight is kinda like IBO speed or the temp rating on a sleeping bag, a simple number that average customers can look at and go, "More (or less) is better. Me gusta."

I doubt flex will be an issue. I had a LWCG .5 and flex wasn't an issue for me. My guess is they are going to take the .5 platform and build it into the climber. You would think with that platform, and a small machined seat with the same platform to seat porportions as the LW Assault hand climber has, they can come in around 10lb.

I would prefer a .5 size, but when I talked to Cody at the GAOS, he said they were shooting for the 1.0 size on the climber.

I doubt they will accomplish the 10lb mark with the 1.0 platform. Will probably be a 12+lber. Might as well stick with the assault and save some cash. I thought they were trying to make the ultimate run and gun climber, guess not.
