New Gear Release 2022!

View attachment 68836
I hate to break this guys heart, but he’s not getting that patent to pass. New Tribe has been making recreational climbing harnesses like this for 4 decades. Only difference is he’s hiding 2” straps in the cordura, and they are leaving the one inch straps exposed similar to a rock climbing harness.
Hey @Red Beard didnt you tie a secondary bridge on your leg straps on the evo to make this do the same thing, pull from underneath and at the waist similar to a rock climbing harness?

It reminded me of a canyoneering harness with an inner thigh bridge.
Yes or a RCH. All the pressure on those lower leg straps will be held by the 2” webbing long before it distributes on to the cordura around it. I bet it weighs about 3.5 lbs too.

And who hasn't DIY'd a #2 hole in their saddle, so that's non-patentable public domain. lol.

Probably widely known but how was/is it?

Edit- also accidentally posted so I put literally zero thought into this post, sorry
Sho nuff was sir. Did a little ditty about it a long time ago. Called it a jacket bridge.

well we need you to stop now that it’s patent pending please lol….It does add some comfort to the evo by allowing the legs to assist with the load bearing. Anyone that’s ever worked in an arborist harness knows they aren’t as comfortable as saddles with swing seats saddles.
Funny story, I went to buy some climbing line from a local arbor shop. I was talking to the owner and a couple tree surgeons about what I was climbing out of and I said it was similar to the harnesses they climb in… every arborist there looked at me like I was crazy and said they didn’t enjoy sitting in them things for 10 or 15 minutes straight while they cut branches, let alone want to sit in it for 6 hours while they hunt

According to the website:
  • Average Weight approximately between 2 - 2.5 lbs
We'll have to wait for some reviews to verify that.

I'm intrigued but $500 for a saddle that'll have practically $0 resale value is a pretty tough sell. My pockets aren't deep enough. I'd spend it on that broadhead though lol

Yea if it’s that light, then I wonder what 2” webbing is being used. It didn’t appear to be seat belt webbing. I wonder if it’s 17337

Material pricing is crazy right now too though. That was quite a bit of material to basically mimic a recreational climbing harness
Lots of leg support but zero back support and with the biner down low and double webbing bridge u gonna have to be creative for a back band/support. The price is kinda crazy

And just like that, JX3 has lost the title of steepest in the market!

This one for those trying to figure out what to do with #2.

Phantom kit same price as JX3. Which one is making more margin?

Add 200.00 platform versus 100.00 ring of steps from tree hopper to go with hybrid…

But yeh, that rock harness with the extra fabric is quite expensive!

I think we found our tester here. It's for market research, right...
Honestly I wouldn’t say anything bad about it if I did buy it and try it. I try to be supportive because option are a good thing. However I would never drop $400 on just a saddle when I could get a new tribe recreational harness for half of that and it would do the same thing. Or a pleated saddle does the same thing without all the extra material to walk around in. Heck a back band can be slid under you legs lower than your saddle and hooked into the carabiner and it will essentially do the same thing as well.

Ok cool so with that I can break down what the webbing used is:
Point one and point 3 are just different ways of saying the same thing.
Point 2 means yes it is in fact 17337 which is the thinnerwebbing usually used for back pack straps (he’d be better to use seat belt webbing same size and thickness but 3 times the strength)
The tubular webbing is great for lineman’s loops and for leg loops. Thats a lot of material to use for the saddle to only weigh 2.5 lbs (our deluxe uses some of these materials and the size 3 (the biggest one I make) with cobra buckles weighs about 2lbs and 4oz.
I will say this those materials ain’t cheap. And he picked the right buckle, waist belt combination to get a saddle that stays snug on your waist while walking.
