New Gear Release 2022!

This is not a knock on Waldrop, but as great as that seat is, it is not $288 great. I can hire an illegal to carry a 20lb chair all day for $10 for me and cover my whole season for less. I don't know why this has not been "replicated" and sold for a much lower price already. I get the small operation and costs, but this one is low hanging fruit for Hawk or someone out there.

I'm happy to pay a bit more to support small business, but it's not really even a pac seat. Idk, glad folks like it.

Hey, at least they're recalling this one.
I spoke to their Cheif Engineer and Quality Control Officer, Wee Todd Did, today and he assured me that there is nothing to see here, and they always expect to see some issues with each and every product they release. They will continue to perform the standard 5 minutes of total test time from design phase to public release and rely on their consumers to do the real testing.

Seriously, has there been a single metal product released by them to date without issues or recall? Fool me once, shame on them. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me 4+, please do us all a favor and go use a paracord or dental floss tether.

On the plus side for them, I am continually impressed by Greg's marketing prowess and abilities. I believe his story should be told in MBA marketing classes and I will use it if I ever accept an offer to teach another one. Their brand loyalty and mass following, despite their issues, speaks to how well they have marketed their brand. Many other highly successful and well known companies have done so in the past too - Phillip Morris, RJ Reynolds, and Tylenol first come to mind for some reason.

Carry on...

Mr. David was nice enough to send me a turkey pacseat. First impressions are I wish to heck I had it back in turkey season. It's exactly what it looks like and claims to be. That, to me, makes it worth the money. And the fact that he doesn't advertise and stays backordered and hasn't had to make a single gen 2 or issue a single recall...

I have not modified my original seat. I have not needed to. I have killed probably 10 or so deer out of it by now. I have packed 100lbs out on it. I have sat all day in it.

Mr. David is also a very nice, very honest, and very humble man. I like him. I wish there were more people like him who made no-bs, just works gear.

The pacseat is the anti-hype train. It looks ghetto. There's nothing for gear nuts to jizz over. But it does exactly what it says it can do, and is confident enough to charge you for it. That's class.

I love it.

I wouldn't buy one from Hawk, that's for certain.

He does present as a gentleman, from his videos, Mr. David. I appreciate his demeanor.

This site has proven this statement about the pacseat to be a lie

Showed where it needs a bit more too, imo. But with a little work it can be more than an adjustable chair, and it's not a bad piece of kit from what I can tell.

My opinion is that the entire thing is just a thinly veiled populism movement. There's literally zero chance that any large name hunting brand could've started selling saddles at scale from the beginning. Even if they had the idea first, and were dumb enough to try it. It HAD to be "one of us" to start the whole thing. The appeal isn't light weight gear. It isn't mobile hunting. I don't even think the strongest signal is pretending to be a good hunter. There's too many hiccups for that to persist. From what I can see, the signal being sent is loyalty to the common man. Folks dig their heels in on it too. It's really something.

The only thing I'd recommend changing is the belt and shoulder straps. I have no suggestions as to the new pricing, or insights as to how to make it feasible to keep it all US made. But from an end-user, no-craps-given-about-how-the-sausage-gets-made-so-long-as-I-can-eat-it POV, a better harness system would make MY life better.

I think.

Some days.

Other days, I like the simplicity of the webbing. I routinely spray the mud and blood off of it with a water hose.

Honestly, I'd rather sit in it and haul deer out on it than give it much thought. @kyler1945 can testify we've talked about the straps yearly at least since I tricked him into letting me "borrow" his and I haven't been arsed enough to actually do anything about it.

God's honest truth is I could hunt with it for probably 40 years and never change a thing. Just do like Mr. David and be happy with a good solution and move on with the hunting.

After having cut the mesh off the back of my hybrid to fit the exo shoulder harness into it, and never putting it back in, I'm convinced the same should happen with the pac seat. I just haven't quite spent the time to figure out how. That, and removable hip pads for the belt like I made for the hybrid, and buckles that you pull forward instead of back. Couple straps for load lifters. for less than 100.00 you can have the thing carry any load you can handle comfortably.

Most people don't need to. Just like the hybrid - if you're not packing meat out, leave it alone.

One of the coolest hunts I've had was with the pacseat. Snowstorm during rut a few years back in Missouri. Walked about 5-6 miles through the hills tracking deer. Set up in a blowdown on a good trail on edge of small fallow field. This dude came out right at dark, and walked to about 2-3 yards. I had to draw my bow sideways in my lap while sitting in the pacseat. With full insulated bibs under cabelas stand hunter heavy coveralls, and about ten jackets. It was like 5 degrees if I recall correctly.

I watched my scent hit him, him tense up and realize he was in trouble. Too late....

No I bought it already.
After watching the video on the post locker it looks like the versa button and the seat protrude out the back side of the stand when its folded up. I wonder if you can feel that on your back when packing it? Let us know.

I'm seeing those spots.

Guy I know got one. Post is not straight and he needs to pull the post over by quite a bit to get it to fold flat. They told him they did that so the buttons keep it together when folded…. Yea right…

Summit had a China knock off. Lacked some of the important features. I don't think it sold well?? No longer available.

so Turkey vs Regular Pac seat, which one are you taking on a boat ride this deer season?

From what I can tell, the only difference is 8" lower which appeals to me for some reason.

I seem to remember something about just a little super glue on the bearings if they pop out of a soft goods product as well…

you are right though their marketing is second to none. I say that all the time, the dude is very personable and comes up with some master pieces for marketing ads and you tube videos!
