My brother and I were talking about scent control and he sent me a link to a John Eberhart video. Next thing you know I'm reading about his style of hunting and I'm like "Whaaaat"? How have I never heard of Saddle Hunting before now? I feel cheated, can't wait to get started!
 
I stumbled upon saddle hunting accidentally as well, what a rabbit hole.

Welcome to the club but ignore Eberhart. He thinks deer can’t smell his underwear because he puts em in plastic buckets.
 
Welcome from SE Michigan! I stumbled upon this site when I was trying to figure out how some guys on YouTube were hanging from trees by ropes. Now I'm waiting on my saddle to get here (just got confirmation it shipped!) And hoping to get some reps in before the Michigan season is done.

Thankfully I live in the metro detroit area, since they just extended archery to Jan 31st for 3 counties here. Hopefully get my saddle next week and still have time to do some hunts in it!
 
Welcome from Maine and worship Eberhart cause he has over 50 Michigan book bucks on the wall and took them all with a bow on property that anybody could get access to just by knocking on doors and asking.

Yup, DNR extended archery in those three counties. I'm sure the public land in thise counties gets hit pretty hard earlier in the season since they're so close to the metro area, but I'm hoping to get out there and try my luck. I've got some family in northern Oakland too, so I can always hunt their property too.

I've been exclusively ground hunting this year since I sold my climber while waiting for my saddle setup. Cant wait to get back up in a tree
