New strap mod....

I got mine in mail today and tried out on my API sticks. They work great. Very easy to use and light weight. Very happy with them. Will be ordering more

I like it.

On the subject of versa button placement for mini sticks. I looked at many before I decided a good rule of thumb is take the distance between steps multiply by .604 or roughly 60% measure up from bottom step that measurement. My sticks are 19.5 between steps X .604 is 11.78 inches so I went twelve inches above bottom step to versa button..... works great ( I'm using DIY Sportsman Ultralight sticks, Beast Sticks as guides here). This is for mini sticks my stock Heliums with three steps the versa button is more like 72% between bottom and top step.

Any thoughts on how to use this strap for my DIY platform(Lone Wolf Seat without the tree teeth on the platform)? Obviously one end I can just girth hitch to the platform how about the adjustable end? How do I fasten that to the platform?

I don't think it can be done easily. I had custom straps made for this purpose so I could girth hitch both ends to the platform. But a regular ratchet strap or cam strap with at least one hook on the end could be used. A Lone Wolf or XOP strap can be used too with a carabiner or something else. I prefer the cam buckle instead of a ratchet so you can let out the strap incrementally until you hit the sweet "cam over" spot. Works really well.

I'm using the XOP strap now too heavy too loud....sturdy though....better than a versa button (that only works when the platform has teeth camming over on the tree) just curious if anyone has a way of using these yet....I also saw the boat cam buckle thing too....Thanks I'll keep experimenting! Would really like to make this work camming it over BTW the straps are awesome Thank You!

Just got mine yesterday. Bad as I hate it, I really like them on my cut APIs. If I replaced the 1/8 tube or drilled it a la beast sticks, I would be around 7lbs for 3.

Wish I could decide between those and wild edge steps as my public-legal rig.

I really want to like wild edge steps but I just like sticks too much.... I’ll trade being a more compact for the ease of use and lack of “fiddle factor” that I get from sticks.

I put them on my cut down api also. I’m really happy with my api sticks. I had the WE steps but after trying they was not for me.

Not sure if I'm going to use them on my sticks or not, going to try to one stick this next season and repel down with a Madrock lifeguard. Have to see which attachment is easier to remove on the way up my versa button with paracord or the new woven strap mod....

Well the SaddleHunter.com affect is in full swing. Dutchware Gear is out of stock and so am I. However, I have more arriving 2/1 and will start shipping on 2/4. These were supposed to arrive earlier but we've had two days of no mail this week due to weather.

Thinking out loud here. How did it take so long to figure this stick/platform mod out? Is this a new product or something?

Seems like the kind of thinking and experimenting that I've seen from the impressive brains on this site would have found this years ago. With all the rope mods and Amsteel efforts this seems like a natural extension.

There may not be an answer to my somewhat pointless question. Just curious. Regardless, glad "we" found it!

Its been discussed before. I'm thinking the concept was shot down due to perceived problems tightening the stick. Somebody finally just ordered it and tried it out.

May be wrong though. I remember ir being discuss3d for sure as a tether.

I had never read anything about this stuff being used for straps before I ordered 2 six foot pieces to play around with as a gear hanger.

Once I got to the tree the brain started going in overdrive, lol.

Can somebody with rope cranfords give the woven daisychain strap a go on them? I keep eyeballing them but don't know how I'd like the whoopi. This seems like it might be easier? Maybe?

yup, made a video about this a couple years ago with a 7/64ths amsteel daisy chain, not bitter though :) we had the same thing with the fleece saddles, lol

I tried it with the cranford steps, the loops need to be smaller for it to work right. Also the way the step is made it wants to pivot at the bottom of the step instead of sliding and tightening when you step on it. They are made of steel so they are heavy for what they are, I'll be exploring a way to do this with aluminum. If we can get @DanO to figure out a way to incorporate a hook into the squirrel steps as a one piece unit... it will be amazing.

I have Hawk Helium sticks I want to rope mod using the XOP oval metal versabutton ('cause metal).

Anyone know if these will work on that button?

I haven’t used them, but check their specs versus the LW button.
