New XOP Seat Platform?

I noticed the attachment point on that broken seat was further out. I wonder if that factored in at all.

I think it was from me trying to get it to cam over while I was trying an amsteel daisy chain. I couldn't always get it just right, so I would end up having to put a lot of extra weight into it to cam over. The Nite Ize Cam Jam Xt will fix those problems.

So how hard should you have to pull it down for it to cam over but not be too tight?

I use mine with a XOP cam buckle strap. When I cam it over i'm not 'fighting' it to cam it down - just enough resistance so that puts tension onto the strap and the seat casting 'cams' into place. If the seat wants to pull up on you, or you're really struggling to cam it over, it's too tight. It's the same idea whether you use a strap or rope to cam it over.

If you pay attention to the angle the seat casting is from the tree it should be about 30-40 degree angle from the trunk. If it's lower than that it wont cam tight enough. Over that and it will keep pulling the seat up and be very difficult if not impossible to cam it over.

X2

I broke a bracket during the cam over when my strap was too tight. Your strap should be just tight for some resistance.
