No Stick method

I'm blessed. I've got great hunting and only an hour from NOLA, Baton Rouge, Hattiesburg, and Jackson. Weather sucks, but hell, I'm used to it.

I’m about an hr S of you. I normally hunt on the river so it’s a 3 hr one way for me. It sucks trying to make day hunts.

Nice work @Cbigbear. You're welcome to move up here to the mitten state!

My plan whether 1-sticking or no-sticking is to use my rappel rope as my tether like @ckossuth demonstrated at SaddlePalooza. If I happen to drop my platform or stick, I can easily rappel down to retrieve it or use my pull up rope and grapple/hook to retrieve it. I find adding additional ropes and paracord to keep things attached ends up getting in my way.

Don't you need a 2nd tether or a linesman belt for going around limbs though?

Been playing around with this for a few days. For me it’s working as well as single sticking. Haven’t tried any other platforms, but my DIY assault has had minimal kick outs & those were on irregular tree shapes.

With trees like that, you should look at the method I use.

@Cbigbear great video. After speaking with you an watching the demo I'm going to try out one sticking this offseason.

@DanO the stick you had out Saturday that we were trying do you have a date when we can purchase it the way you have it setup?

All components for that are available on his site now.

I just looked on the site an saw that. Will more than likely order a scout platform for one of my modded API sticks.

Good deal, if you have an questions you know where to find me. Also highly recommend Dan O’s products. Been using the steps all season & the standoffs half a season. They brought the old LW’s out the shed & back to my go to sticks.

Nice job @Cbigbear, and thanks for the video! This looks very interesting. I've always wondered about incorporating the platform into the climb somehow, rather than just carrying the dead weight up the tree to only use it at the top. In reality, it's just another stick, so why not climb with it...

I'm filling my cart as we speak on @DanO Site now

There’s an arrest warrant out for @DanO in the Bluegrass state. I went by the local sheriffs office yesterday and filed a report for theft...he keeps taking my money

I’ll tack on a multi state warranty. Same has been happening to me.

I hear that Chicks dig that one stick method! It is my specialty

@Cbigbear , do you have anything to keep the platform from collapsing towards the post? I think I get the strap to keep it from opening too much, right? Thanks

The girth hitched tubular webbing aider is keeping it from closing completely. It has about a 1/2” of play, but it didn’t affect the climb. Yes the strap is to keep it from camming open.
