Official bib wearers thread

Contrarian here, not a fan, never felt a need to fix what ain't broke. Tuck my baselayers in is a big key, wear a long coat, and a wind breaking shell.

When I started hunting my old man forced coveralls on me and I hated those blasted things. So, I got daddy issues I guess.

i also hate coveralls because you can't vent or remove/layer properly and they bind up on you like toddler pajamas, bibs are great in saddles in part due to not riding up the back and that it is hard to tuck coats and such into saddles

Same here with those overalls but bibs are different man!

How are the new style bibs? I’m worried I won’t like not having hip pockets. I use those pockets a good bit and hate to see that they didn’t incorporate the pockets on this line of bibs. Is the material quite enough for bow hunting?

The previous style that I like so much are the UA mid-season fleece bibs. Wish I could find another set in a large size.

There are hip pockets in the windproof rut line but they are covered by the saddle. There’s one huge thigh pocket on the right leg, you could fit a hardback book in it and what I like is the zipper starts toward the top on one side, tracks along the top and stops about an inch down the other side so you don’t have to worry about the zipper going all the way down and crap falling out the pocket. The material is high loft fleece, very quiet. For whatever reason the matching jacket is a bit crinkly but not too bad. There’s also a deep chest pocket as well, what I mean by deep is the pocket goes in and down, so if you stuck your phone in there it doesn’t just sit right inside the pocket, it actually slides down about 3” so there’s so way your phone will fall out. It’ll hold a range finder or other items as well. I don’t require my bibs to have lots of pockets so don’t know if that’s a deal breaker for you. I got the extra large as the max listed size was 38” waist and normally wear a large. Well I’m glad I did because it gave me extra room to layer a bit. Large would have fit me athletically I think. I have a 33” inseam and the xl has more than enough length without being ball smugglers(sorry for the crudeness talk ladies but the struggle is real). I considered getting XLT but glad I’d didn’t cuz they have a 34” inseam and would have dragged on the ground. I can take some pics if you want.

I like uninsulated bibs for spot and stalk but if I wear them while using a saddle the side buttons get smooshed into my hip/side by the saddle and it's pretty uncomfortable...i have my saddle on when I leave the truck whether I intend to use it or not so I don't wear the bibs that much anymore...I have an insulated pair also but only worn them a couple times..never used the saddle with those either....love hate relationship...if I lived in colder climate I would use them a lot more

The natural gear bibs are big and billowy and keep u cooler moving air around inside during the early season and I really like them...stupid side buttons
Nat gear is good kit. The winterceptor line, the older design with the high loft, is no joke. I wore those jokers in heavy snow fall and had to unzip I was so hot, snow was melting on my outer layer. I actually sold them I couldn’t wear them here in VA.

Hmm yeah I can see how those side buttons would be annoying. Luckily my bibs don’t have that. I like them a lot. Bought directly from ASAT. Didn’t even think to check specs like some that have been mentioned here but I am very happy with my bins!

I am most definitely a bibs guy. I wear wool bibs whenever it gets cold. In addition and all of my outer camo leg coverings are bibs. Even in the early season I'm wearing bibs of some kind.

I take a bit of crap from my buddies because I still wear a pair of wool bibs my mother gave me for Christmas while I was still in High School. They fit more like pants now rather than the loose slip overs they were when I got them (they must have shrunk a bit over the last 40+ years :tearsofjoy:) and they've definitely seen some wear but I don't care. They're comfortable and still keep me warm. I have a newer pair I break out when it gets real cold but I just wear them over these. FWIW I haven't needed the extra pair yet this year.

Looks like a pair out of Red Dead Redemption 2!

And I'm on the bib train too. I got a pair last year after being tired of being so cold here in Michigan. Once it gets too cold, I figured I'll just stick to the ground to hunt. Not a fan of being that bulky up in a tree, plus I'm a big guy and not as flexible as I used to be, so adding extra layers up there doesn't appeal to me neither.

Edit: I've got a pair of Cabela's Red Head bibs. Super warm.

So I’m a bit over 6’1” and the bibs fit me how I like. The suspender straps are wide and attached in the back sewn and in the front with g hooks. The bib material is Berber fleece inside and high loft exterior. As you can see from the pics the thigh pocket is kinda like a dump pouch. When wearing a saddle the thigh strap sits just above the opening of the pocket. I told a fib the chest pocket isn’t as deep as I remembered but it’s not bad and will accommodate at least a pair of gloves, range finder, apple, whatever. There are 6” zippers on the legs. 18BCA533-9699-4804-9753-443136A4E798.pngD8E4B944-F47E-44E4-8D8C-F4BD0C03E36B.png7AA13CC9-28D8-4A07-BF13-DA2170DE98B9.pngE1BDF844-F07D-441B-B22C-D0C1B46ED37C.png3DC2B524-027B-4338-B9B9-9CAEBA3C52D4.png648710CD-06CA-4ACA-9BFE-1A2325B5018B.png

Has anyone tried the Ambush insulated bib from Predator? The pocket placement seems perfect for saddle hunting. Definitely want to add bibs to my setup for next year.

Thanks, those pics convinced me. I’ll be ordering a pair. The pocket layout is better than what I was thinking. Probably would want another thigh pocket on the other leg as well but it’s certainly not a deal breaker.

Do the “G” hooks on the suspenders stay connected well? I like how they are, I just want to make sure that when you have a little slack in the suspender they don’t unhook themselves.

Wonder what the deer think of you hunting in that helmet. Nice!

Forgot to mention there are hip pockets just like pants, but they’re essentially useless while wearing a saddle. The G hooks stay in place well for me, I haven’t had any issues and I’ve had them both loose and cinched down tight. After season is over I’ll prolly have CGM throw another thigh pocket on the left leg for me.

These look pretty solid! I have been pretty happy with UA garments as a whole over the years.

The hip pockets is mainly for holding my phone(gps) while walking. It’s quick and easy. The waist straps of my bag sit high enough that I can access these pockets. I don’t use chest pockets to hold my phone for this. Over the years I’ve had plenty of items slide out of chest pockets while bending over. I switch over to thigh pockets or saddle bags to hold my gear while in the tree. Hence the reason why I’m kinda particular on pocket layout.
