Official Hat and facemask thread

Sitka Sunhat has become my favorite. For a facemask I use the built in ones on a Sitka core lightweight hoody or a fanatic hoody depending on temp. Both also have hoods and I wear them under my sunhat.

I have a true-spec Boonie I’ve added some ghillie improvements to I wear if I hunt from the ground.

I also have a camo bucket hat that’s 40-11 years old that I’ll wear if I need to have orange as it’s reversible. It’s so faded I’m sure a GW would take exception, lol.

Thanks for the diagram hahahaha cracked me up. You a compound guy or recurve?

With a boonie cap all you need to do is duck your head and push through the brush without getting your ears wipped and keeps rain from running down your callar..no problems interfearing with the string
That’s actually a huge point. Maybe I’m like dumbo but my ears get cut up all the time. And then I get crap in my shirts.

I have seen no mention of a beard yet. I wear a first lite brimmed beanie. I wear a aerowool neck gaiter but I don’t reckon I’ve put it over my beard but once to cover my mouth when it was 6 degrees

Face mask and hat thread. Early season warm weather: simple basball hat with netting face mask. Colder weather face mask, neck gaiter, fleece hat. Really cold: Second fleece hat or Sitka incinerator helmet.

How do y'all tolerate that face mask? Not a covid joke, for real. They drive me bonkers. Make my beard itchy, I feel like I can't see , or hear , with the hood/ mask combo? Honestly looking for tips because a runny nose is my nemesis in cold weather, whether or not I'm cold overall or not

I can't do anything close to my face (on my skin) either. I started with the burnt cork this year and it worked. Closest thing I can get to covering my face is a mosquito net and even that is held away my skin all the way around by an inch and a half fedora brim.

I agree with this. I did order a scentlok headcover.. if @boyne bowhunter recommends it it's gotta be legit. The little bit I wore it so far, I will call it my favorite cover so far. Not to snug, not to loose.. it hasn't been cold enough to use it for a long time yet. So some more testing is required. But I can't see my self grabbing anything else ATM.

Wear a standard ball cap, then wear a fleece beanie on the cap. Keeps your head warm and keeps the beanie out of your eyes. Wear one of those stretchy neck gaiters, pull the back up over the back of the cap/beanie with the front of the gaiter just over your chin or under your nose. If you see a deer inbound you can pull the front of the gaiter higher over your nose to cover the nose and cheeks.

Once it gets cold here I actually wear a neck gaiter folded over and pulled down over my ears. That's what's on my head in my profile picture. Not a hat, a fleece neck gaiter. It's pulled down over the top of the scentlok facemask, just to keep my ears warm.

I'm actually have the opposite reaction on seeing something shoot worthy too. Since I use a nose button on my bow I pull the face covering down so its just below my nose. The nose button doesn't work through the facemask. :tearsofjoy:
