So after much consideration I’m thinking about getting into one sticking. That being said I wanna do it on the cheaper side for this year so the wife doesn’t kill me haha. I ordered rope and a belay just trying to figure out what to do for a stick! so suggestions?! I thought about going the muddy pro route but can’t seem to find a single

What stick(s) do you currently have? Adding a good cam cleat to most of the common stick's isn't a big project.
I have xops right now. I thought about just adding a can cleat to try it but at the same time I’d almost rather leave them so I could just preset them in my favorite evening spot

That would be a good budget route…. Id pay the membership & post a wtb ad for a single muddy pro. If you decide you like onesticking then get an EWO.

You can still do that with a cam cleat on one. Bring that one with you as your bottom stick, and preset top sticks.

I started out one-sticking with my 30” hawk Helium with 2step aider using the standard daisy chain. It worked although the daisy chain requires some fiddling to move the stick up. But it worked and got me to one-stick climbing. I was using a ROS at the time so I just kept using that.

I’ve since upgraded which is what you will likely do.

You can absolutely 1 stick with ANY sticks or attachment methods. Rappel rope and aider are the only thing that you really need to add to a stick, because no sane person would 1 stick DOWN and aider multiplies the distance you go up per movements. Some people argues that cam cleat is essential but I disagreed. I use the regular straps that came with my XOP sticks and it work fine as long as you tune your method, the buckle-less method is great for the XOP sticks IMHO. For a budget stick, your XOP sticks would work fine, some improvements are recommended but its like budget bow and flagship bow, both will work as long as you know the expectation.

-Consider using buckle-less method until you are at hunting height.
-Dont try to reach too far each movement, that's where people are making the mistake, reach as far as you're comfortable.
-Try different style, some people place stick on the side, other directly center, do what you feel is best.
-You dont need a mechanical ascender/descender, they helps make life easier but a figure 8 or ATC works great.

I started out the summer practicing the one stick method on a cut down hawk helium single Amsteel aider with a DIY Amsteel daisy chain on hawk button. Like stated above a cam cleat is not absolutely necessary. The button may have a little fiddle factor but once you have the method down it's no problem at all. I have since made my own one stick with a two step aider and I'm still using the daisy chain on 3D button and don't plan on looking back. I built a platform for my top helium stick to use as a preset of if I just feel like using sticks. BTW I will always be repelling down one stick or multiple sticks. No other way coming down makes more sense then that. Just stop at the one stick and take it off or with multiple sticks stop at each stick and remove them. It just works for me.

Use your platform with a two or three step aider instead of a stick. I climbed that way last year and it isn't bad.

I thought about this. Where do you attach your aider? I have a predator platform XL.

I was in the same boat last year. I had 4 of the 20in Hawk Heliums i got in sale for 89$. I used one stock last season to one stick. I also used the stick as my platform as may one stickers do. I upgraded a helium this year and added a cam cleat, single step aider, and the angled EWO Platform that attaches to the helium. All wrapped up with a camo ace bandage type wrap to deaden any metal noise.

Climbing with the cam cleat is light years easier and faster than the button with a daisy chain. And the platform is much more comfortable. Whole stick is just under 3lbs.

I dont know the dimensions of your current sticks, but you may be able to put on a Scout Platform, aider, and a Cam Cleat and be good to go for less than 100$.

Some people attach it to the post,I attached the aider to the platform and cammed it over every move. Then the aider is some distance from the tree and your feet can go in easy. Search for a no sticking thread on here...

Hate to jump in on this post with a question, but what company makes good aiders? Thanks

The best company is TK161BOONER Inc.

Just about anything will work, even an old ratchet strap. Just be warned that once you realize it's easy it is to create a thing, you'll start seeing everything else you can modify and improve.
while i gotta agree with my teammate since i'm a DIYer for this type of thing, a lot of us are fans of eastern woods outdoors, doublesteps.com, they sell aiders of multiple types.

there's an ultimaider for sale in classifieds right now - https://saddlehunter.com/community/...gear-hangers-tx5-pouch-etc.41359/#post-568670
