OOAL Hush Stand- first impressions

On the Hush? It does. There is a screw* you turn and adjust a little plate. It then locks the seat. Probably not a design I’ll use for packing in sticks and gear but certainly one I’d use for carrying out heavy loads.

Well, I’ll be placing an order tonight.
That was the only thing that I was hesitant about. I thought it was likely to be a great stand regardless, but the meat shelf would be a nice plus.

As is, Millennium uses a spade and bracket receiver that adds quite a bit of weight to the system. An M7 can be modded to a versa button design and is much lighter that way. (Info about that can be found here and elsewhere on the internet.)

Millennium advertises the M7 at 8.5lbs. Reportedly they are weighing in around 9.3 without the receiver. The versa mod brings that down to....? (It can be found with a bit of looking).

I don’t know what mine weighs. It’s light enough I haven’t bothered to modify it to a versa design. Frankly, I like the Millennium receiver system with preference to the heavier chain receiver over the newer ratchet strap receiver. Not everyone likes that system, actually some not at all, but I find it easy to manage the receiver sans stand and I’m happy enough with the stability of the bracket in the tree.

Comparing with the Hush, on paper I would say the advantages of the M7 are a wider platform, a more comfortable seat (although this is personal fit / preference), and price.

The HUSH has some nice features. It’s lightweight, has a load out shelf / packing feature, integrated storage for Shikar sticks, clever leveling adjustment apparatus, OOAL signature coating for traction and quietness on stand, and is narrower for transport.

Both great stands from what I know of them.

Thank you this is comprehensive, well thought out, and useful information that I was looking for.

I would add that the Hush is probably quieter underfoot in variable weather.

In my experience, grate style platforms tend to make a bit of noise under snow and ice packed boot treads, and when wet. I haven't to my knowledge been busted in my M7 because of that and have been quite successful hunting from numerous Millennium stands, including the M7.

I have an OOAL XL platform and my impression of underfoot quietness is approximate to what you'd expect from a cast stand like a LW. I'd anticipate similar performance from the HUSH.

One thing that works really well for me with the M7 is standing facing the tree with the seat down, and leaning against the lip of the seat just below my knees. It gives me stability and support while standing, relieving some fatigue.

The ability to stand up on the Hush with the seat still down is one of my favorite parts so far. It’s not a big deal to flip the seat up but it’s also nice just to stand up and still have a bunch of room on the platform. I’m not a fan of heights to begin with and the LW Assault and the LW Climber I had always made me uneasy because I felt like the seat always pushed me to the edge of the platform when I stood up. Not an issue at all with the Hush with that short seat.

Well, to bring this thread back on the rails after that unfortunate episode.
Who else has gotten one? What are your thoughts?
I have one! I love it. Came over easily and love the adjustability. The seat feels so much larger than it looks. With the seat being smaller, the frame pack feature makes it tough to sit things on it. It’s usable but not that big…which is fine because I like how small the seat is because you don’t have to flip it up to move around on the stand. I’m ready for the bow holder to come out. That will be a nice touch.

What’s the details on the bow holder? Can it attach to any stand?

So, as always, there is the matter of personal preference. I personally own a fully modded M7 and after checking out the Hush at the WEI Saddle Up event, I will be selling my M7 and buying a Hush. I don't plan on using it much, but I want to have one good mobile treestand setup in the arsenal... As previously stated by others, I have nothing but good things to say about OOAL. I own several platforms of theirs right now!

Same reason I bought one. I will be saddle hunting most of the time likely. But do like a tree stand once in a while for various reasons.

What aspects of the HUSH led to your decision?

I think they're both good mobile treestands, with different selling points. It'd be good context if you'd touch on what you prefer, personally.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy either stand.

Like I said, personal preferences... So, here goes. Factory weight/modded weight will be slightly heavier on the M7, although I forsee long-term comfort being slightly better on the M7 seat. The HUSH is slightly narrower and therefore should pack a little better for me. The M7 doesn't really have a smooth way to pack sticks on it, although my mods made it easier. I dislike how you have to remove the seat stop pin on the M7 in order to pack it flat and then to engage it (mod made it easier, but still). The rear of the M7 platform does not bite into the tree anywhere near as nice, and I do not use a strap on the bottom of the platform/post on my hang-and-hunt stands (although I've never had an issue with actual kick-out). The M7 doesn't really have any easy platform leveling abilities. Overall, I loved my M7 for the years prior to saddle-hunting, and yes, I chose this over the Lone Wolf stands at the time. I really like how the mods improved function (seat bolt mod, versabutton mod, custom OCB loop-end strap for versabutton, removal of the bracket/hook and replaced with a 1-1/4" standoff, bolt-on platform bow holder, ball-bungee stick retention placement, spray paint lol), however, I think that the HUSH is a bit better without mods.

Right on, that’s a pretty good rundown.
