Admittedly I am new to saddle hunting.

Here’s my idea. Please feel free to war game pros and cons. I have in my possession 4 of these wheel chocks. I’m considering cutting a slot through each, on either side and running a ratchet srap through them for a ROS. I’ll texturize the smooth top with a soldering iron, similar to the way you see guys stipple polymer frame pistols. My thoughts are, they’re light, and fit together well but are strong enough to keep a car from rolling, and since the bulk of my weight will be on the saddle, their surface area in contact with the tree should be plenty to keep me stable. 36D1C1D2-1222-4EE1-AA01-76453ABD3E65.png

I already have them. I’m just posting so you guys can war game. I got them free! I’ll rig some up tonight and see how they feel and report back.

My bad.I read that as $18 a peice and thought it was crazy to spend that much when you could get a squirrel step for $25. $18 for four makes a little more sense.

And you would be correct!

You can't just post a pic of something like this and not have a video showing its use. Come on! :)
I literally conceived the idea today. I’ll alctually have to build this contraption and stipple the platform surface before I try it. Does the concept make sense? I’ve been lurking in the shadows for months trying to come up with a cost effective solution. And I found one in my armory’s motor pool!

@trailblazer75 I think you are onto something here. I have been playing with furniture brackets made of aluminum with very good success but your idea may be quieter. I have used my brackets for my permanent setups. I did a search for chocks and there are a lot of options. I may order some of the solid rubber offerings and play around with them. Maybe try them full width, then cut some in half and see how they work. Very good find sir!

What I didn't like about all the rubber ones I found was that they're usually not flat on the off side surface. Or the surface the tire wouldn't sit on. They all seem like you'd wind up standing on a sloped surface. Whereas these plastic ones at least have a flat surface that's about 5"X5".

Curious to see if they twist. I messed with the stealth steps which are plastic. I had them tight to tree but the plastic would flex. I'll keep watching to see. Hopefully it works!
