Pac -seat

TURKEY SEAT

PROS: Lower seat height means more concealment and a lower profile. The legs don't ride as far down on your back, which eliminates any potential for them to bump brush. Slightly less weight technically, but you can't feel the difference in hand or on back

CONS: Lower seat height means less visibility in brushy or graasy areas. You're probably not drawing your bow from it.

REGULAR SEAT

PROS: Higher seat means more visibility in grassy or brush areas. Easier to get in and out of due to higher seat.

CONS: Longer legs mean sometimes I bump the end on something while walking. Technically weighs slightly more, although I can't tell. Higher seat height means you have a larger profile and can be more visible.

Overall, I like them both but would personally keep the turkey seat if I had to choose. Mainly because I don't bow hunt and am young enough that the low seat height doesn't bother me if I'm using it as a fishing or camp chair, and it's nice to have one seat that I can use for pretty much everything I do in the outdoors.
Thanks for the info. Do they lay back pretty far? Would love to find one that can lay back like my turkey s.eat

Then call it the WPS, Waldrop pac-saddle! The jx3 has competition! :tearsofjoy:
Nah evolve it further... I see it with some sort of a base as well, probably expanded metal would be the easiest. We'd have to make sure they really could Loc on, maybe with a chain?.

I couldn't resist and ordered one. I also talked to someone on the phone regarding current stock. He said they've got roughly 150 in stock and they're making about 30 per week. Not sure how many they'll sell by lowering the price but mine shipped the next day. Great customer service.

Yes great service, ordered on Sunday delivered Tue .

I've bought so many different hunting chairs that my old back didn't like, I'm afraid to drop 200 on another one . I have a cheap Alps Turkey Chair that is amazingly comfortable but sits too low to see the deer looking at me over the beans.

Same here! I use an Academy sports dove stool that cost $9.99, it sits 13" off the ground and is lightweight and somewhat comfortable if you have a tree to rest against. Thinking of just upgrading to the one with the backrest for $14.99. I also have the hammock seat which often I trade off with.

I bought the hammock and didnt like it. It sat just like a double bull 3 leg stool. Bought a cheap dove stool w/backrest and couldn't sit 5 minutes. The back bar cut into my back. Guess I'm too picky, just like finding the perfect saddle. Really afraid of dropping almost 300 w/ship. on a stool...

Dang! I would have gone for a Pac Seat at the new price!
I went for the https://versatilegroundblind.com/.
2.0 seat version. It was $118 to my door this off season.
I’ll post a review after I’ve put it through its paces this season.
Also made by nice guy in GA oddly enough.

Red Beard was onto something with his diy version.

That was my concerns with getting the back rest on the dove stool, that it would be uncomfortable or not really add any support. I like the hammock chair, except it does seem to pivot a lot, I have tried every configuration and still can not get comfortable.

Any initial impressions? I want the pac seat but have no use for the pack out feature. Did you get the backed version?

Yes. The 2.0 with back. This is slightly taller and heavier than the smaller seat only one.
Here is my initial thoughts from a message to someone that PM’d me about it

have been shooting from it from home and at 3D range to practice for next deer season. I had a number of hunts near bedding last year that would have benefited from being on the ground vs the 20 or so minutes of fully setting up in saddle or stand

Pros
cost effective
Simple to set up
Can be set up like a turkey lounge by siting on back and leaning on seat
Quiet
Closed cell foam seat seams durable and doesn’t bottom out.
1.5 “ webbing sling is adequate for carry or seat can be attached to pack
Sets up on hillsides and against dead falls
My hourly rate would exceed $100 + materials if I were to diy one from conduit
Owner was responsive and sent out immediately

Cons/ considerations
Webbing guides are spot welded bent nails to keep seat straps in place . Prob not best option for longevity.
Height is about 17” so a higher profile, this profile would benefit from partial front cover or a ghillie .
Weight 7 lbs is on heavy side of seating options
No “ freestanding” mode
It’s essentialy made of 3/4” EMT or similar conduit, hence the weight

Can double up foam and sit on like a stool to lean on a dead fall and sit in either direction .
If I use this more than 10 times I’ll likely upgrade to a pac seat
It fits on a pop up and can be strapped to smaller packs

That should be more than enough until I drag it through the deer woods.
Good luck
