Boats are like every other piece of gear...there's no such thing as the perfect one. No such thing as the perfect rifle, the perfect bow, the perfect platform, or the perfect saddle. Everything has its pros and cons, and everyone sees these pros/cons differently.
If you're looking for a boat that is PRIMARILY moving from one spot to the other in a hunting scenario, it's tough to beat a simple canoe. They're cheap, light, and hold all the weight you can throw at them. They're great for no frills transport.
If you're looking for a boat that is PRIMARILY fishing with some hunting duties thrown in, that's where the Hobie products shine...especially the Pro Angler like I have. In my opinion, there's never been a better human powered fishing vessel. It works very well for hunting too, but it's not as simple, light, or cheap as a basic canoe. I've killed a lot of critters in my Hobie and I have zero complaints.
If you're looking for a boat that is an equal mix of Hunting and Fishing, and has a TON of versatility, I don't think you can beat a NuCanoe. It's not as good of a fishing platform as the Hobies, and it's not as simple, light, or cheap as a traditional canoe, but it's kind of like the Swiss army knife of human powered boats. There aren't many down sides to a NuCanoe. If I wasn't a pretty serious fisherman, I'd buy the NuCanoe.
