Good seeing this. There were a few "hiccups" when the Mantis was first released. I'm glad to see that Tethrd has persevered thru some growing pains. I would venture a guess and say that at this point in time, right now, they are the saddle company that sets the bar in this particular niche industry.Ordered 2/26 @1705 hrs

Phantom/Predator/sys hauler/Ropeman1 will be here 03/04
Without a doubt the best customer service from a company to date.
Thank You Tethrd
Tethrd does set the bar in many areas. But a year ago New Tribes set the bar and are not to be discounted.
Tethrd may have a GM market share but there is some good Honda type competition and variety to suit various needs.
They certainly are the best marketers, with likely the greatest market share and the best production system and have been the most responsible for growing the market to the benefit of all saddle makers. They have good product development and testing. New Tribes is not far off in all these areas - Ford?
But there is very good competition producing slightly different products for slightly different needs. And everyone’s butt is slightly different. Some produce slightly lower quality, at a lower price but with good comfort- maybe the H2 - Hyundai?
Some produce a bulkier product but with fantastic comfort and versatility: example the JX 3 which can be a ground chair and a pack and you need no platform - a mini van.
Some are developing an old concept after the Anderson sling -example the recon. Some claim it has unbelievable comfort at a very good price point. - a Harley.
And let’s not forget New tribes who build a saddle that is built like a tank and have a lot of experience building saddles. -a pickup truck.
There are also several smaller companies that might emerge with a different and better product. It is fun to watch and see the variety out there and it would be a mistake to discount the competition.
This is all to the benefit of the consumer.
I keep hearing too that all these saddle makers are great guys. A real good reason to buy? Really I feel bad for the small businesses that will lose in the end. See it all the time in farming but that is capitalism.

Fun analogy. I am waiting for someone to bring the Wrap2r to market .
A lot of great options, the future is bright!
You'll want to see Eberharts sling then. I saw it yesterday- it's basically a wraptor but has a webbing bridge (changeable) a waist belt, and lineman's+molle loops.Fun analogy. I am waiting for someone to bring the Wrap2r to market .

That will be interesting for sure. Sounds similar to the treehopper sling. I sat in that at the Harrisburg, PA show and it was sweet. You'll want to see Eberharts sling then. I saw it yesterday- it's basically a wraptor but has a webbing bridge (changeable) a waist belt, and lineman's+molle loops.
Very interesting.

Not sure Wizard's post was off topic. The saddle's are selling and shipping within days of purchase. This is new to the community and should be highlighted.Let’s not turn this into a tracking/when will I get my phantom thread or it gets moved. Stay on topic folks.......not directed solely @wizard
Magnified to show textureWe used to rig up garments with fishing line and photoshop out everything afterwards. We also used superglue to keep folds and whatnot straight. Some of my friends who did campaign work for fast food chains did a lot of really insane stuff to make hamburgers look really good. Resin epoxied meat, spot freezing and burning with compressed air and blowtorches...

No worries, just trying to keep it from becoming a tracking thread.....Apologies for posting it. Feel free to delete it.
Thanks
I sat in one today at the Michigan Outdoorama. I passed. Not that it was bad, in fact, it was pretty comfortable but I am not all that uncomfortable in my Mantis. I could see where a sitter would prefer the Phantom though. I may end up in a Phantom eventually but, for now, I will wait until the Pennsylvania meet up to try the different saddles all at the same time. If something makes me say, " wow that's so comfortable, I've got to have it" I will give up my Mantis.
I didn't. Now I'm mad. I did get to see him and hear his seminar. I was hoping to see his signature saddle. I was probably standing right next to it and never noticedMan, bummer about the long drive to have that impression. Did you happen to see John Eberhart's sling on the next table?
