Pistol carry set up

I'm a first year saddle hunter and have been concerned about how I will carry my sidearm now too. I bought a drop leg holster which just arrived the other day. So far it seems like it will be a good fit when I've tried it on with my saddle. I haven't gotten the chance to hike or climb a tree with it yet though.

Appendix carry but just run the belt of the saddle through the holster instead of in my pants. Easy access whenever you need it. No issues

Can’t carry in Missouri during bow season unless you get a conceal and carry license. Which is pretty much obsolete since you are allowed to carry without one in the state Any other time now.

I've looked it up before and that's not entirely accurate. I used to have a conceal carry license, but even under constitutional carry you're covered.

Here's the rule under the 2020 Fall Deer & Turkey hunting regs (page 24):
Archers hunting deer or turkeys during the archery season
may not be in possession of a firearm. Some exceptions
apply. See 3 CSR 10-7.432 and 3 CSR 10-7.455 of the Wildlife
Code of Missouri.

And if you look up 3 CSR-10-7.432 (page 8):
Use archery methods only;
firearms may not be possessed except any
person may carry concealable firearms, as
defined in Chapter 571, RSMo, on or about
his/her person while hunting. Firearms possessed under this exception may not be used
to take wildlife while archery hunting.

So, in essence a concealable firearm is okay to carry on your person while bow hunting in Missouri. The definition of which (per Chapter 571, RSMo) is as follows:
(4) "Concealable firearm", any firearm with a barrel less than sixteen inches in length, measured from the face of the bolt or standing breech.

I wouldn't want to get in an arguing match with a game warden over it but rather gladly take a ticket and his badge number. And then light his *** up to his superior the following business day.

As far as carrying, the only times I can see myself needing my sidearm is during the walks to and from my hunting location. I have a holster attached to the hip belt of my pack for such occassions.

Last year I was carrying concealed on public in bow season (don’t have a license just have the constitution), and a warden stopped me at the parking lot. I told him I was carrying and he didn’t care at all. I don’t know if he realized there was a legal question or just didn’t care but he checked my license and went on.

Does anyone have a creative pistol carry setup? Seems like a standard side carry holster won’t work in my saddle. I tried am the Eberlestock Nosegunner but that would have to come off to get a bow shot. I would like a solution that stays on me. I was thinking a drop leg setup possibly. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I saw a guy with something like this:
Maybe that would work for ya, other than that I have a drop leg holster that I float back and forth with my alien gear IWB holster. Admittedly the alien gear I usuall take off and put in my backpack for the hunt.

Hope that helps.

In New York you can’t carry during bow or muzzleloader season, open carry is also illegal unless while in the act of hunting, I just open carry they can go $&@? off

NY also, I have my Concealed licence but yeah the whole "illegal to carry during bow/muzz is dumber than a bag of hammers. If I weren't hunting and just walking in the same woods I could all day long but because I'm trying to kill a animal with another compliment them I'm a bad person".....Typical NY liberal BS

Hill People Gear Recon Kit bag for my 1911 or my Browning Hi Power

Thanks! I will check it out.

I usually would carry a glock 21 on my waist but after moving to this fascist state. I am in the market for something subcompact been eyeing the FNSc, XDS, FN509 or hellcat. The biggest problem is finding one in stock.

Have a Ruger-New Model Super Blackhawk Hunter, been looking at different style holsters for a while, this may be the ticket.
Looks like it has enough adjustment to be worn inside jacket or outside of heavy gold weather clothing if desired.
Looks like if you have a scope mounted revolver no go.

I second this - HPG Recon chest kit bag + Glock 20 in 10mm goodness!!!

I’ve tried several of their chest rigs. They are all super nice, but I landed on the recon for the low profile. The bigger ones just get stuffed with unnecessary stuff. With the recon you can add to the front using the pals webbing.

I also use their belt pack for my dad bag while on vacation or not in the woods.
