Platform suggestion

I'm about to pull the trigger on some WE stepps. Bare with me as I try to wrap my head around this platform concept. If I go the knaider/swaider route, would I just set up another stepp next to my top stepp for a platform or can you guys pop that platform in while standing on your top stepp?

Yes it’s that simple!

Seems to me that I read somewhere that the WE step has a slightly different shape and the platform insert doesn't sit quite right.
Can anyone chime in on that? Am I remembering correctly?

You are correct, the WE step crossbar location sits slightly higher than the Primal. Some have used 5/8 plywood to compensate and I believe some have cut a small groove. It’s is one of the reasons I actually stuck with the Primal for the insert

Get the Predator. Mine had a small squeak when I got it but with some bow string wax it hasn’t made a sound all season now. The Predator platform is a game changer in my opinion, it’s just rock solid even with my 250lbs of side pressure on it. I highly recommend it.

Has the noise issue been addressed on the gen2 Preds?
Which version of the Predator do you have?
Both my gen1 squeaked, and popped pretty bad until I waxed them and they were quiet until temps got to 20 degrees then the noises returned.

I'm under the impression that they fixed the problem with the gen 2? Can Ernie or Red chime-in on that?

I did the @denot fix the other day but haven't tested it for more than a couple minutes. Denot hasn't tested his fix at low temps as far as I know so the jury may still be out on the nylon bushing remedy. https://saddlehunter.com/community/index.php?threads/permanent-predator-noise-fix.11135/

The Gen 2 comes pre waxed. I'm guessing how it handles the cold would be dependent on the type of wax used. The beefier platform may flex less and help with the noise issues also. The Gen 2 I got my son didn't make any noise on the one hunt he's made since Xmas but, I've been lucky as my gen 1 has never made a noise either.

I hunted all season from a gen 1 predator and it never made a peep. I redact, once I over tightened the strap and then camed it down, it was super tight. It did make some popping noise then. I got off, loosened it up a farkle and that was that. Go with the predator if your even remotely thinking about a platform.
