Post your 15mins of fame here. Seriously!

When I was in the Air Force, NASA contracted with us to spin up alternate landing sites throughout the world whenever the shuttle launched.

We were trained to make entry into the orbiter if it ever landed at our site. During training at Kennedy Space Center, we’d water the manatees with a fire hose and I have a pic (35mm print) somewhere with me resting against the tip of the center tank at the top of the vehicle assembly building (VAB, big NASA building with an American flag on it).

We probably did some training too but it was mostly a 3-day TDY in 4-star hotels on NASA’s dime.

Here is Annie Leibovitz critiquing my photography. She mentioned it in her talk at her own exhibition later that evening calling it "haunting, beautiful, and great"

Naturally I havent done anything with my photography since then.

When I was little I was on the news for a few seconds with my grandfather at Ravens training camp but far and away better than that is having NAW write an article about me in 2019. Really wish I could have edited it before they published though because they butchered some facts but oh well. Have it framed at home hanging with the deer from the article and some copies for my kids.

I made it into the NJ Fish & Wildlife digest a time or two going back to the early 2000's, and I've filmed some clips in ads/promotions for Realtree/Mathews haha! Other than that, pretty much just a local notoriety (the good kind lol) from my knowledge and occupation.

I stopped by the Wild Edge booth earlier this month at the Great American Outdoor Show. Got to meet Drew, & we had a great conversation! We traded a few texts during that week, & I sent him some pics. Last week he texted me & told me he put this in his email newsletter:

Before saddles I was using a hang on that used a separate bracket mount that u attached to the tree and the stand attached to the bracket and I made a rope just the right length to allowed me to know where the foot platform would end up that stayed attached to the bracket so I could visualize where my feet would end up when attaching the bracket to the tree

I knew you were a killer @hokiehunter!!!

I made it on a poster back in my past fishing guide/tournament career. Also on a episode that aired on espn for awhile. I don’t remember what it was called to find it, all I have is a pic of me with the camera crew.

I just remembered a story from when I first moved back to Minnesota.

I had spent 4 years living in a small rural town in AZ, unwilling to pay for cable, and without network television reception. As such, I was a bit disconnected from what people were watching on TV. I had chance to move to Grand Marais, MN, which is an even smaller rural town on the North Shore. My first night in town, I decided I wanted a beer and a burger after spending the day unpacking my trailer and setting up my rental cabin. At 7:30PM, I was only able to find 1 open restaurant, named "My Sister's Place".
I was a bit surprised to find a camera crew, lights, and a gregarious chubby bald guy bopping about energetically. As inconspicuously as I could, I bellied up to the end of the bar and ordered my beer and burger (which were both excellent). I tried to discreetly watch what was going on around me, and came to the conclusion that the chubby bald guy was the owner of the place and was shooting an ad for his business. When my burger came out, I asked my waitress if I was correct.

"No, that's Andrew Zimmern"
"Who is Andrew Zimmern?"
"You know... Andrew Zimmern? Bizarre Foods? He's filming an episode here tonight. Otherwise we would be closed this late"

I have spent over a decade trying to find that episode, without success. If you happen to see it, I'm the guy at the end of the bar trying to invisibly eat a mushroom swiss burger.

For what it's worth, Zimmern sampled a burger with peanut butter and mayo and onions, a hot dog topped with wild rice, fried chicken gizzards, and fried portabella mushrooms. I've since tried all of those items and they're all good, if a bit strange.

A couple years ago I had a giant buck almost in bow range. He bedded down in some thick cover and I could only see his antlers moving around until a doe came into the picture. He met up with her within bow range and proceeded to mount her and have the time of his life. When it was over the doe took off and the buck was snorting and kicking up dirt as if to say "I'm the man". I could have taken a shot at this point, but I didn't have the heart to ruin his day. I watched him for a few minutes before he happily trotted off never to be seen again.

How hard you been looking? Lol took me 5 seconds, I googled "Andrew Zimmerman bizarre foods my sister's place" and this is the first result:

Had an article about duck hunting published, and one of the “Duck Dynasty“ guys posted a slightly irate comment about the use of a picture of him that accompanied the story. The magazine had prior permission from his team, but he was unaware. He posted an apology and said the article was good. Made me smile.
