Prayers needed

Well the surgeons came into to check on her this morning. Things are progressing well. They are monitoring her glucose levels for 2 days. She has had 2 checks and the levels have been good.

If everything goes as planned, they will lift the PICC line feeding and allow her to eat later this week. The drains will remain along with the PICC line. Just in case.

They are also testing her amylase levels from her drains to make sure that the levels drop, which indicates that the pancreas is healing.

I asked one of the surgeons that helped what kind of time table for her to come home. She could not give a direct answer. She said if everything goes perfectly she could go home in two weeks. She explained that would be the best case scenario. She also advised that another patient was just released after 3 months recently.

She advised that the pancreas heals differently and tends to do well and then regresses a bit before improving. All we can do is pray for the best for her.

She accomplished her goals yesterday and is still working on today's. She has been a bit reluctant to use the pain management pump as it was making her tummy feel funny. They lowered the dose which may help with that feeling.

She sounds like a brave young lady. Continued prayers for you all.

Just seeing this. Prayers man. Glad things are going as well as can be with the situation.

Hey @Homebrew454, didn’t see this post until tonight. Gods blessings to her on a quick recovery and to your family as you work through this. With the house move coming up, family illness is the last thing you all needed to deal with. My son had 3 surgeries at Children’s and my daughter had 1 all before they were 2 years old. Children’s is truly amazing. I am close by so let me know if you need anything

I'll keep praying here in Michigan. What's your daughters name?
Her name is Elynn (ē Lynn). She is a very loving and caring 10 year old. And a super strong girl, which I keep telling her.

I'm happy to report that I did see a smile today from her. Right now momma is with her and I'll take over tomorrow. Hopefully with each day there is improvement and we get her home soon!!

The outreach from our friends and both of our employers has been amazing. I had a friend reach out to me and told me he would work weekends for me if I needed him to.

I'm just blessed to have Elynn with us and I'm cherishing every minute I got to spend with her today. I kind of got scoulded by my wife as I wasn't getting enough of her daily goals accomplished while I was with her. I explained that a dad has to spoil his daughter a little bit and she knows how to pull my strings at times.

I'm glad your kids are doing well. Thanks for the offer to help. Children's is an amazing hospital with extremely gifted doctors.

One of my wife's friends is organizing a moving event to help us. We are blessed to have such good friends!!!

The hardest part is my wife and I can't get much planning done on Elynns care due to the covid restrictions the hospital has placed. Only 1 parent allowed in at a time and no other family allowed. We can't have or parents visit to help us plan for her care. I've seen my wife for about 15 minutes over the last 72 hours. When we're in the room with her, we're just concentrating on her. the only time we have to communicate is through texts while she is sleeping. She was up most of the day today and I enjoyed every minute.

Prayers for Elynn from south Florida. My son had a major surgery at 8 weeks old and I know the scary feelings, but e's now healthy and 21! Glad you were able to get to that hospital!

Two years ago I would have looked at this thread and passed on with a brief thought. But as a parent now for just over two years I feel some strong emotions when I read your initial post and updates. The world can be a cruel place without rhyme or reason at times, and your story brings me to a place of intense emotion. As a father of a 2 year old and a 1 week old, I wish you and your daughter all the best and my prayers are with you both. Your daughter sounds like a strong person and I am betting this will be a winning success story.

Guys thanks for all of the support and your prayers. It is really comforting to hear from you all.

I know we will get through everything and over come this issue. The more and more I research the pancreas I realize that this was a miracle. The surgery and what they accomplished was impossible.

Good bless all of you!!!! I'm returning the favor by praying for all of you and your family's health.

As I type this my daughter is in surgery as the result of a freak bicycle accident. She wasn't going very fast but with gravity, her body weight, and her slow speed caused the handle bars to strike her in the abdomen. This caused a surface bruise but also caused her pancreas to be severed apart.

She never fell to the ground and the handle bars just swung into her.

The surgeons are trying to save her pancreas but she will be in a long recovery. It could be up to 4 months of hospitalization.

I'm just asking for prayers for her recovery. Hug your kids and give them a kiss.

Prayers with you

This is the update my wife posted.

Elynn had a great morning!! She's been in a really good mood, making jokes and teasing everyone. Although she told me to stop making her laugh because it hurt her stomach. She was bound and determine to finish up all her goals by the time dad got there, and by golly, she knocked them out of the park. 4 times up and walking and 4 times sitting in the chair for at least 30 minutes. Everyone is amazed at her progress and how well she's doing. Everything looks great and they told her today she needs to continue building up her tolerance for sitting so she will be able to tolerate the car ride home- hopefully in about 2 weeks if there are no complications. We are truly blessed to watch God's miracle unfold in from in front of us and couldn't be more proud of both Elynn and Ethan with how they are handling this.
