Not telling anyone what to do but I think everyone on this site that has a Predator platform with the offset hole should contact Tetherd and maybe get a recall going. Why wait until there is a crack?
I wonder if drilling out the aluminum threaded hole and adding a steel threaded insert would help distribute the stresses better....threads in aluminum can be a real pain in the butt....a slightly offset hole causing failure is a little unnerving..if u put all ur weight out on the outer corner that would essentially be putting the exact same stresses as a slightly offset hole

Ain't holding my breath. I don't own any Tethered equipmentI wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you
Not useful communication.
LWCG needs to come out with a mini-Ambush.

That's nothing new. Anyone seen a gen 1 recall?I find it VERY useful that there are issues cropping up with platforms you stand on 25 ft up and the company making them is aware and failing to recall said platforms.
Again, he is not referring to comments on what the thread is about. He was referring to comments that were essentially jibber jabber and may have been deleted by now.I find it VERY useful that there are issues cropping up with platforms you stand on 25 ft up and the company making them is aware and failing to recall said platforms.

I agree you would gain some pull out strength with the steel threaded insert but it wouldn’t help much with the boss material cracking. The problem here looks like a simple GD&T issue. Tighten up the positional tolerances where that hole goes and you might be fine. Other than that if they want to keep the sloppy positional tolerance then they’ll have to go thicker with the material.I wonder if drilling out the aluminum threaded hole and adding a steel threaded insert would help distribute the stresses better....threads in aluminum can be a real pain in the butt....a slightly offset hole causing failure is a little unnerving..if u put all ur weight out on the outer corner that would essentially be putting the exact same stresses as a slightly offset hole

The folks at Tethered got in touch with me today and confirmed the bolt hole is not centered and caused the crack. They state they have since corrected the machine so the holes are now in the correct location. They are overnighting a new platform. Can't ask for much more than that.

I’m a little confused by this. My platform is fairly old, bought in late 2018, and I believe one of the first generation 2 versions. There is no production numbers on mine. The platform leveling hole on mine is definitely not centered. That would lead me to believe that it’s not just a short run of recent platforms that got drilled off center. I have never had any issues it. I want Tethrd to continue because I really like their platform offerings ,but if my platform was at risk for this kind of failure, I’d want to know.
