Looking for the best public land way (no screw in) to hang my bow. I’ve been looking around to see what there is. So far I see either people are using a heroclip or the big whitetail dream bow hanger. Whats everyone’s opinion on what to use? Or is there a different method I missed when researching? Thanks!

one strap on step like a squirrel step. you can hang other stuff off the strap as well.

A mooring hitch knot using paracord with a couple Nite Ize S hooks. Tie a loop in each end of the paracord to cinch it down. I like to break off the keeper on one side of the S hook for the bow.

Tethrd makes a good one. Check it out. Also check out the Heroclip from REI.

Niteize CamJam XT with a modded tool belt hook. Very light weight and packs anywhere. I like the hook because of how large the opening is. Can hang my limb on it no problem.

I made myself one from paracord sheathing and knitting needles that is light, strong, quiet, and holds the bow out a ways from the tree. Here is a link to my DIY which has photos.

Is it necessary to use a whoopie sling, or can any old rope around a tree get the job done?
the whoopie is nice because you can easily adjust it to the exact length you need to get around the tree. It works very nicely. I have been using this for two seasons. Plus, you can use it as an aider in a cinch, or a a spare linemans belt, should you every drop either one :)

I have whoopie slings stashed everywhere. One or two in my pack, and one or two in my pouches.

I am not a fan of the hero clip. I like the hooks on the HMS gear hanger. I modified the strap to work with a ghook and added some kydex jhooks from dano for accesories

This is what I use.

I place one hook to my right, one to my left and one on the backside of the tree. I am right handed so my pack hangs on the hook to the right. The hook to the left and backside of the tree I hang my bow on. Its nice to have 2 bow holders when I am walking around the tree on my strong side.

Did you make them or buy them? And what material?
