Question for Bow Junkies

I’m not a bow junkie, and haven’t really paid attention to what came out in 2023. I’m planning on buying used a 2023 bow in January, after all of the bow junkies buy their 2024’s. What bows really stood out in 2023? I’ve been shooting an Evolve since 18, and I love the bow. It’s just time to move on. Help me spend my money!

Elite & bow tech are the easiest to tune. Both can be done without without a bow press

elite has the most customizable draw length and holding weight. Draw length can be adjusted in 1/4 inch increments and holding weight adjusted in 1% increments I believe

matthews is generally the quietest and probably has the most refined accessory mounting system

The PSE omen is maybe the best combination of a speed bow and yet forgiving platform there is. The PSE levitate seems to be extremely accurate or at least all the reviews I’ve seen say that.

none of that really matters though. All that matters is you go shoot a lot of bows and find the one that feels like home. And odds are that id you’ve been a longtime PSE shooter you will probably end up with another PSE.

I shot a prime inline 3 before I went with Mathew’s. It was my second favorite bow of the ones I shot. To me it seemed to dump into the valley which is a feeling I’m not used to. I’m like how my bow doesn’t dump into the valley and has a short valley. My brother has an inline 1 and loves that thing to death. I think the main thing is finding the one that suits your needs and forget about what name is on it. I like to mess around with people needing to get a Mathew’s if they want to be serious. But at the end of the day I would have went home with whatever fit my needs.

Sometimes moving forwards means looking backwards, lol.

My Pop still shoots one of these. Great bow! He’s killed a pile of deer with it, and has quarter size groups at 50 yds. He’s had to drop the poundage since he got hit by a car and tore his shoulder up, but it still shoots like a dream.

Whenever I get the itch for the newest and greatest I always think back to my 1995 or 96 Mathew’s solocam. The worst bows on the market nowadays are vastly superior to the solocam and yet with the solo I killed most of my deer with it before I switched in 2015. Hell I think my current recurve shoots faster than my solocam lol if I remember right I was barely hitting 186ish fps with a ~400gr arrow back then and the 60# on that solo is about like pulling 70+ on my prime. I guess the point I’m making is we always look for the latest and greatest when what we have is just fine, I’m a victim of this and most of us westerners are, it’s a sad part of our society this materialism. But it’s fun and if you can then go for it but maybe sit back sometimes and genuinely ask why? My .02

I’ve asked myself why, and I can’t find a good answer, lol.

I just bought a bowtech sr350. I love everything about it. Definitely worth going to shoot one.

I shot the mathews phase 4 side by side with the bowtech for a half hour and really wanted to like the mathews but for me the bowtech just fit my hand better. Was no louder (possibly quieter), infinitely more adjustable and adjustable for free without buying mods, the deadlock cam system I thought was a gimmick until I went to bareshaft tune. It was soo easy and quick. Would've taken many hours disassembling and shimming cams on the mathews. Grips are interchangeable on the bowtech.

Not knocking mathews by any means, Lotta folks love them. To me mathews is kinda for the guys that go to the bow shop for everything. Bowtechs are more geared for guys who take their bow home and never go back. I prefer to do everything myself from tune to change strings etc in the comfort of my home.

You really can't go wrong with any of the new bows

I tell you. The new bow techs are really nice. I haven’t been a fan of Mathew’s for several
Years. Just more options out there
