Does anyone just feed their rope thru without a link or delta? I run 35 ft of resc tec and figure it wouldn't be to difficult. I also run a separate tether til time to rapel.

I tried this, doesn't fall down the tree as well. I think the weight of the delta brings the rope down better without hanging up. I use 40' of c-iv.

The Kong SS delta link I'm using from Dan-o is rated for 40KN and 25kn (5600 lbs) cross loaded which is stronger than my sterling canyon 9mm c-iv which is 20.7 KN( 4663LBS w/a 2% stretch @ 300 LBS). Even on a small tree I feel confident in that link. There was some discussion that If you do not tighten the link to about 5 foot lbs whether oval or delta you loose some holding strength but I had an old el-cheapo ladder stand tool I filed to fit.
I just need to wrap the bare metal..

@Zacrowsl are you still using a carabiner? is it an oxan? what are your thoughts on it now? i'm considering an oxan, but how is the weight for you? it's pretty heavy, isn't it? any issue falling down the tree more? easier or harder to pull down? Thanks!

Yes. Zero issues. It is a little heavier but we are talking ounces. I use a gear tie so I don't have issues with it falling down the tree. I actually prefer the bigger size to the delta link. Everything doesn't get all jumbled up at the knot/ link area

Thanks man!

I still have a biner on my pull down rope but like u I question why I have it....I used 1/2 mule tape for pull down rope this last season and I liked it better than paracord... Paracord had to much stretch IMO.
I've been doing it like this lately....Paracord girth hitch with a Celtic/ranger bead to secure the pulldown to the tether and the pulldown girth hitched to tether. After I get the rope down out of the tree if I don't plan on climbing again that day I just stuff everything in it's pouch and I'll reorganize back at the truck....if I'm possibly gonna climb again I'll re figure 8 the pulldown and have it reset before the next climb....didn't cost anything, no biners, and more important....it's pretty much impossible to forget to send it down since it's right in ur face.....

i know, I know,....ever deer in a 2 mile radius will see the white rope 15ft in the air and I'll never kill nothingScreenshot_20211206-101626~2.pngScreenshot_20211206-101616~2.png

I like that pull rope girth hitch idea and I’m annoyed with myself for not thinking of it.

Just noticed this POLL/Thread. I use the Delta Link and the Scaffold knot but also the Anchor Knot with my Canyon IV rope.

This mean you’re packing a pull up rope and a pull down rope? How you getting weapon up tree?

Howso? Having to secure it while hanging? I’m using a CGM drop bag so I think it’ll fit. I hope.
I was just used to clipping a biner and being able to unclip when ur rope falls.....it just takes a second to think about it.....now instead of having a 30ft tether coiled on the ground all around u with pretty much all the rope on 1 side of the tree and the ability separate the pulldown....now u got 30ft tether on 1 side of the tree and 30ft pull down on the other...I bunch up the pulldown and toss it around the tree to the other side were the rest of the tether is....hopefully that makes sense

Tether is stored on my right side and I pass the tether around from my right to my left...that orientated the pulldown at my 7-8 o'clock and the excess rappel rope is still on my right hand side in it's storage pouch...so when the rope falls the tether loop and pulldown on the left hand side of the tree and to start rolling up the rope to put it away the pulldown and quick link must be passed from the left around the tree to right

Or....figure 8 the pulldown real quick and attach it with the Paracord cinch holder thing and throw it around the trunk...I do this if I may climb again that day or if it's end of the day dark I just stuff it all in the pouch and get outta there...then figure 8 and reattach back at the truck

I guess I should be more specific and say that the pulldown is now semi permanently attached...I don't take it off anymore....maybe a little confusing..I just assume peeps can read my mind and know that stuff
