How do you carry your rope? Do most people stuff it in a backpack or is there a better way to do it?
I put my 9mm HTP in my pack most of the time but just depends on the scenario.

Like many others, hand to elbow wrap then I just toss it around the top part of my stick that’s already strapped to my pack. Backpack is usually full of heavy layers that I’ll put on at the tree. End of the day, everything more of less just gets shoved into the backpack as I usually wear my outter heavy layers on the way out instead of trying to pack them back into my pack. How do you carry your rope? I was looking at the rw rope kit, seems like a good deal but not a big fan of 1/2 rope for rappelling. It's not samson predator. It's thicker and I like it less than predator. So think that the splices don't save any real bulk. It's the same rope as 1/2 in rw treestand rope I think.
Yes - it's a good value but does not suit my preferences.I was looking at the rw rope kit, seems like a good deal but not a big fan of 1/2 rope for rappelling.

I am getting set up for the 2020 season now...I think rappelling will satisfy both (fun/safety) ...its not that much more gear really (just my opinion) ...will comment again after I have some real time experience under my belt...safe hunting to all!I really want to try this.
It looks fun and safer for descending it the dark... but is it worth getting and carry even more gear and rope?
So I guess I am asking is for safety or really the fun factor?

It's so much fun. The neighbor boys yell out "nanananana batman!" at me when I'm practicing in my backyard because I remind them of batman rappelling off a building or somethingRappelling is so much fun. I tried it for the first time this past weekend and couldn’t get enough.
Is the switch from 9mm sterling to oplux worth it? I would also have to change out my atc. Does the sterling hollow block and/or Beal jammy work well as an autoblock on the oplux?

I'm testing the sterling hollowblock on 8mm ultratech. It's gonna take all the wraps, I think - I tested it just pulling indoors and found I'd have to probably do a kleimheist - a french prussik didn't grab very well. I'll test further when I'm not at work.Yes it is. Samson ultra tech is another good choice for 8mm. I have both. The Jammy works for an autoblock but you have to use every inch of it to get enough wraps to hold. I want to try a Sterling Hollowblock to see if it work better/less wraps.

I finally got time for this today and found 4 wraps and a kleimheist was required, rappelling was twitchy but worked and stopped solidly and under control.I'm testing the sterling hollowblock on 8mm ultratech.
