I was wondering what do you guys use to rattle with? For the longest time I have just used a set of real horns. This year I purchased a set of primos fight’n horns and I love the sound they give off but the only downfall is how large they are. I was just wondering what everyone else uses?

I use two different sets of synthetic antlers. I like the green set the best.

Plastic yellow tent pegs stuffed inside a long sock....sounds just like the ones they selling the store...

I never believed in rattling until 1 hunt the end of Nov right before dark 2 small bucks started fighting 20yds from my tree I was in and I watched a big buck get up out of his bed out in the marsh and make his way over...unlucky for me he didnt get into range before it was too dark for me to shoot....I could still make out a faint outline as I watched big guy run off the little 2.....1 of the best experiences I've had in the woods....my heart was pounding

The little 2 were going at it hard ....the fight was surprisingly loud like people hits baseball bats together

That's a close up of the antlers. They are long but not wide . I looked for those antlers for years and finally found them but I can't remember the name of the company I bought them from.

Real antlers for me

The antlers from the first buck I shot. They are on the smaller side. Never had much luck rattling anything in with them where I hunt so I don’t use them too often.

I rattle in these P&Y bucks during the rut in two different seasons some years ago. Don't give up but I would use synthetic antlers they keep their tone unlike real antlers and small antlers I wouldn't recommend.

Have had mixed success. I don’t try rattling in the south much at all. When I hunt KY I’ve had a little success. I’ve used sheds and I’ve used the rack-n-roll, and my buddy uses the pack rack. Not a ton of response from any, and not enough response to say ones better than the next. I’ve watched a handful of bucks fight up there and heard a few within earshot. Never saw any other bucks come running into them, or cruising by shortly after... maybe it’s just where I hunt. But I’ve had great success with grunting.

I can remember when I was about 13 my father and I was hunting lock ons in the same tree and it was terribly windy. So we got down and hunted from the ground. He had a pair of real antlers and he started rattling and within about 5 mins three bucks come strolling in. It was pretty amazing to see. I see these guys on the hunting channels rattling bucks in and they make it look so easy but my success rate with rattling is very low.

You can mimic a fight better from the ground as well. There’s a lot of noise besides the antlers going on.

I have a couple rattle bags, that black rack that came with my extinguisher and some real antlers. I always grab the real antlers.
