RDA 1 stick

Took out my New RDA 1 Stick and did my first practice one stick climb. Went up about 23 to 24 feet in 4 moves. Overall I was impressed with the stick , the standoff bit really well into the tree and it felt solid.I wasn't expecting the standoffs to pivot a little, but they worked well and guess it just a matter of get used to that. I was trying to post a couple of pictures but it keeps telling me that the file is to large. Not sure what I'm doing wrong since I haven't ever posted in pictures before. Are you guy posting pics using your phone or the computer?
The best way to post pics here is using the tapatalk app. Other than that I hear some suggest to screen shot the pic.

If you have an iPhone, when you select photo there is an option at the bottom that says “actual size” click that and go down to large and that works for me.

I’ll be getting out this afternoon for my first climb.
Hey good luck out there. I didn't my first climb was all that difficult. Just had to go slow and think about my about what I was doing so that I didn't mess up. Overall it went well and it didn't take very long. I also loved how lite my pack feels now. Unfortunately I don't have an IPhone, I have Samsung Galaxy.

Cool brother, thanks for the info. I will download the tapatalk app and try to download those pics.

well that was actually really easy with this setup. It went really well. 3 moves total (ground plus 2) set my platform and was probably higher than I should have been. No sweat, super easy. I did use my lineman’s belt as an added layer of security and it didn’t slow me down one bit.

there were some changes I’d make to my rope setup butI’ll play with that later on. This was probably actually easier than sticks simply for the setup/pickup time required at ground level andtaking things off on the way down. I liked 2TC and will keep it as an emergency thing but this is the way to go for me.

That's cool brother, nice camo job . That's going to be my next project. Also used my linemans also for safety. Also the lineman allowed me to get closer to tree on the top step so I was able advance my tether higher for each move.

yea,do I dare say I’m and official convert?

With the crows nest top and lookout bottom and 3 step aider it's 4 lbs.
I'm just getting into one sticking, and have been looking at the UOS with the UP. But, I'm concerned with the size of the platform. So, I'm considering doing something like this, with a Cruzr Seeker platform, if the weight difference isn't absolutely ridiculous.

I'm only going to use the crows nest top paired with a small ROS. 2 maybe 3 step.i have predators platform but I don't think I'll needed. Maybe for long or all day sits.

I do have a CRUZR seeker, which has been bullet proof for me. I’m not sure if the weight but I can get it tomorrow.

but for what is worth it was super simple, I did my initial move from the ground and then two more. Once I made the last move I stood on the bottom step with my lineman’s belt and set my platform about 15 inches above the stick to get room for it to sit back down. Even with this I feel I may have been higher than I needed to be at least for that particular spot as it’s tight quarters.

If you could get the weight of the RDA stick in your configuration, that would be awesome. I'm curious how much more the RDA and Seeker weigh together than the UOS by itself.

This thing seems super sturdy and seems to bite the tree well. It has the rotating stand offs which I didn't even realize it had until I got it. Pleasantly surprised with that. The top Crow's Nest platform sits a ways from the tree and I liked the amount of foot room although I don't know if I will be able to turn around on it. I'm almost sure I won't be able to with my late season boots on but then again this platform wasn't designed for that. I stood on the Lookout bottom and hooked my knees behind the top platform and it felt very stable for moving your tether up so I liked that too. I have to admit I don't think I'll like the retracting grab cable as it is right in the middle of your foot room on the platform. I might put a gear tie on instead so that I can kinda tuck it away. I'll try several climbs before/if I change anything. I'll probably stealth strip it as I love that stuff and wish that I had invented it lol. Almost forgot. I got the 2 step aider and that seems very comfortable to stand on and it seems to sit just the right distance from the tree imo. I do have a 3 step amsteel aider that I can throw on to try too.

Very nice , that's the exact same setup as mine. I went with a the 3 step aider though. I'm not used to the standoffs that rotate but I'm sure I'll get there. The only thing I would change would be probably a little bit longer pull up handle , but it's not that big a deal.

2.5 lbs for the stick. Could I be lighter, absolutely but for at 7 pounds for stick and platform and another 2-3 on saddle setup, it’s lighter than any stand I’ve used and far more maneuverable

I really did not expect the RDA stick to be that light. That's incredibly tempting. I could basically get the RDA and the Seeker for the cost of an EWO stick.
