Roll Up Rope Pouch Clone

okay guys! I just want to give a shout out as I recieved my roll pouch today! Fantastic quality and you can tell he put time in this thing! Very happy! The file is too large to upload but if you just Google the word awesome, a picture of this pouch will be beside it lol

Ok fellas, I finished mine last night! @4090Sharps your pattern made this easy peasy!! I went with buckles instead of g hooks since they get on my nerves and are metal. I am going to cut my straps down to length once I get my rope all situated in here. I also opted for some DWR coated fabric in the hopes it will act like a lil rain jacket for my cordage. Looks great. Thanks for the idea for buckles instead of ghooks. I was going to order some and that was the last thing I needed but I have some buckles laying around so I can use that instead and make one. I like the idea of less metal.

I'm happy the pattern helped. Nice work!

I wanted to make one of these since I’m just switching to the one-stick/rappel this year. I went on the cheap side and used stuff I had here at the house. The only thing I had to buy were the metal sliders, which are supposed to be here tomorrow so I can finish it up. I do believe it will work and with the way I put it together, I can change a few things if I need to to make it work better.

Body is heavy canvas from an old army duffel. I went with the shock-chord since I didn’t have webbing and buckles in the same size. The mesh is from a bag that a boat cover came in. I tried a bit of elastic in the lower one but it didn’t really help. I may try fishing some stiff rope through and see if that helps. It does seem that it will hold the necessary items plenty securely though.

I’m carrying 36’ of 9mm Sterling HTP, figure-8 and carabiner, and on the tether end I have a steel quick link, carabiner, and 7mm Schwabisch Hitch which I hope to upgrade to a Madrock Safeguard sometime this year.

That's a great design! While I'm not a huge fan of buckles (I either snap them loudly, or pinch myself trying to close them quietly...), I really like your solution to use your shock cord with the buckle.

I figured I’d give this a go. I’ve never sewed before so I had my parents over for dinner two weeks ago and my mom let me borrow her sewing machine. I finished this afternoon and I have it in the tree as I type. So far so good. The Amerisuede is awesome. I love it. E036FAB1-1C98-486D-8C38-1872C925DD23.jpeg

That turned out great! Even though I think the Amerisuede will hold up well, I remade mine and swapped the middle layer out for 500D cordura in hopes of achieving the optimal balance (for materials available/on hand) of noise and strength. This does take away from the stretch in the Amerisuede fabric, but there is always a compromise.

I probably should have done zigzag stitches since there is some stretch but if it breaks down I’ll make another one. The toughest part for me was the stretch in the mesh. Once I started working with it, it stretched and wasn’t square anymore. Thanks for the help, I couldn’t have done it with out you. I honestly wouldn’t have known this existed, either lol.

Happy to help, but the thanks all goes to the Tethrd crew.

I really like the solid coyote brown interior. Which mesh and zippers are you using?

Thanks! I’ll link them below. The mesh is actually slightly padded, but it’s dead silent. It’s pretty expensive though at $10 by the foot. The outer of my pouch is 1000D cordura lined with coyote ripstop, which is what’s under the mesh... so the whole thing is 3 layers.

That space mesh makes for great backpack straps!

"Breen".... my rods and cones betrayed me yet again....

Hah!

I’m thinking of lining my next saddle with it and using the same cordura as an outer layer. Think it would hold up?

Can't see why it wouldn't with what backpack strap mesh goes through. Post up some pics and thoughts in the final build when it's done. Sounds interesting.

Will do. I’m mostly borrowing from the DIY Kestrel build thread.
