Rompola Buck Update

Unique group of guys on here.....I wonder why the Johnny King buck dispute never caused this much fuss. It would be the WR....supposedly.
To me there is no question that the Johnny King buck is not a world record. It's quite obvious that the 3rd point on each side is coming out from the base of the 2nd points.

Heck of a buck! Congrats Brittany if you read this.

The Droopy ears are not unusual. See how they come off the head at the same height? I've seen this lot's of times. MR's are at different height's. Not usual. Can't say that I've seen that before.

Totally different brow tines than MR's buck. Wide? yes. However The bases of the brows originate above the eyes. Just like every typical buck I've ever seen w/ brow tines. The base of the brow tines on MR's buck are so far outside of his eyes that I can't honestly that I've ever seen that on a typical WT either. If someone has a pic of deer w/ brows like that please post them.
This was a buck in a area I was hunting. Almost shot him one morning and had video of encounter. Was a unique deer just because of his brows.20151129_214244.jpg

The article does say that the money offer was for charity and rompy wouldn't pocket anything correct? And the guy offering to pay was someone rompy had history with?

The record largemouth was excepted from just the word of some country bumpkins with no photo from 1930 something till 2000s...the family released pics but they still just a pic and some unofficial country store scale. Bigger fish been caught but didn't qualify for whatever reason...I think the 25 pounder was foul hooked so "doesn't count"

Here is what is great.... where else on the internet would this be an entertaining dispute about something almost entirely meaningless without devolving into insults, spamming, banned users etc?

And for what its worth to those pointing out the evidence against the deer is mostly circumstantial.... so is the evidence for the deer.

Without the mount, all you have is some pretty weird photos of it both alive and dead (who here has snuck up and taken in-season film polaroids of an ancient alert bedded buck facing you hunting during season?) and the word of some buddies 20 years back who say it looked fine to them, not to even mention all the other weird deer he shot that have also just vanished. Mitch is the one who came out and proclaimed to all that once again he had shot another record buck, this time the biggest in history! It wasn't the doubters who made the claim and thrust this buck into the spotlight for all to see... Then the heat turned on and he changed his tune and just vanished for a couple of decades. If the evidence against the deer is weak, the evidence for the deer is equally weak. Nowadays when you shoot a true record, there is a borderline investigation to substantiate your claim by game and fish to head off any disputes like this. Saying "he was a good hunter" doesn't conjure state and world record deer time and time again onto the property he is hunting of all the millions of acres in the state. His son even stated fairly recently that no house fire ever happened, Mitch still lives in the same house, and the mount itself is safe.... which adds another documented lie to a long list about this deer....so why not just end this once and for all and prove everyone wrong, and prove all of your loyal fans and supporters RIGHT, claiming your title as the best to ever do it? In my opinion, the only reason that makes sense is because the buck is a fabrication in some way.

Mitch has nothing to prove. To anyone. Especially naysayers. I'd rather all that negativity keep roiling around inside them. Eventually they'll burst.

So do you believe all of his trophy class bucks were fraudulent i.e. pen raised and shot or whatever? Or do you think they were wild deer fraudulently taken? Or do you think they were fraudulent deer fraudulently taken? I'm asking because I certainly don't know what I think about thee whole thing yet. What keeps hammering on me is that he has taken large bucks throughout his whole life...... that is what keeps me in wonderment. What is real and what is........ Memorex?? You young bucks won't even know what that means!!

Im not sure what I believe about what exact methods he used but I feel pretty strongly that the pure odds of him accomplishing what he says he did time and time again, even if he was the best hunter that ever lived, are astronomically unbelievably low. You can't kill a deer that doesn't live there. It would be WAY MORE believable to me if he killed all nice above average but not shocking bucks and then lucked into the buck of a lifetime. But he has a few too many bucks of 100 lifetimes by my counting

Also @Swampwalker he sure got a lot of sponsorships, did a lot of deer shows, entered a lot of record books, filmed a lot of videos, took a lot of newspaper and magazine interviews, and talked to a lot of young hunters like yourself for a reclusive guy with nothing to prove. The moment he had nothing to prove was the moment people asked for definitive proof of his unbelievably bold claims that he killed the biggest buck of all time not in Iowa, or Alberta, but by the airport almost in sight of his home in a very populated and heavily hunted area. What a lucky guy that the deer lived right in his yard!

You all are comparing apples and oranges. Florida today has QDM, an immense amount of private land, and 365 day growing season. Michigan in 1999 had 750,000 firearms hunters in the peak of the rut with handfuls of tags shooting anything that moved. That area of the state has huge lake effect snows and long winters. The soil grows cherry and apple trees and grape vines. It’s not an agricultural belt and there are NO genes for Rompola looking bucks anywhere in Michigan in the history of deer.

That deer and the one previous are faked. The rest of his 120-140 inch deer are genuine. And the actually look like deer that live in Michigan. His “smaller” Rompola looking buck in Dan Bertalan’s book is a doe.

The guy had a strategy to make himself into the greatest deer hunter ever and he went too far.

Now here is a genuine question. I don’t recall ever seeing any pictures of the nine year old Mitch state record MO buck or the other state record buck from his youth. Only the 40 year old MR posing with a mount. Do any original photos exist? There MUST have been newspaper articles about such an incredible accomplishment in the 50s or 60s?

I saw a picture at some point at some time..... I think. :fearscream::fearscream::fearscream::fearscream::fearscream::expressionless:

People say Florida can't produce big deer too. This is 205inch poached and shot with a pod and it's still less score than the record for our stateView attachment 83366
That 1 ears kinda droopy too
That's got to be a fake deer!! If they don't routinely pull 180"-200" deer out of that area every year, it has to be fake!! At least that appears to be the standard, right?
