What is your choice of rope for one sticking and using a cam cleat? Interested in your choice and opinions. Thx

So 3/8“ to1/4” Amsteel full bury looks to be a popular choice.......... Are you guys running this into a cam cleat? Are you making an eye loop and just girth hitching around the stick post?

Depends on the stick but I have girth hitched it under the cam cleat and on another stick I drilled a hole to the side and ran my amsteel full bury with a loop all the way down to the bolt and secured it with bolt going the loop and the hole you made I put a rubber grommet thru the hole and had my amsteel go thru grommet easy to replace. Another stick I did the same thing with hole and running up towards the versa button bolt that I had above the cam cleat. I don’t care for hole behind the cam cleat that’s why I do it from side. Feels it distribute weight better when you place in tree and stand on it

I run mine like this (rope has since been replaced with 1/4” Amsteel, pic was right after building it). Anyways, Amsteel runs through the same holes as the rope pictured does which is the same holes that have been drilled on all 4 sides of the post. Then I used a full burry (? I don’t remember the term, it was one G2 had in his video on how to splice this stuff) to secure it to the post.

I put the post on the back of all my shikars and run the rope over the stick before going around the tree. This way I don't have a girth hitch in amsteel which is a big plus in strength retention

What do you guys mean by "full bury"?

I am using a LW strap on my Helium stick for 1-sticking but have been thinking about a mod to cam cleat.
Is there a certain size cam cleat that works well with the 1/4" Amsteel?

Id go smaller i tried 1/4 it works but its thick. Full Bury mean to do a brummel lock and fully bury one end into the other. Check Always89y double tether video he does a full bury in there.

Amsteel has a hollow core. A full bury means that the hollow core is filled with a full length piece of Amsteel. It’s easy to do with a piece of safety wire. It makes it thicker and doubles it’s already great strength. By making it thicker, it would grip better in a cam cleat. It also makes it a little more firm when you’re trying to flip it up tye tree.

Cam cleats will tell you what size rope they’re rated for. The ones I use are rated for 3mm to 12mm rope. I’m using 7mm Sterling Accessory cord. The cam cleats are rated to 661 lb working load. A two pack was $22.

I debated on the slanted scout for the top of my modified helium. My concern was boot slipping when I’m climbing or standing on it and moving my tether up the tree. Are you getting any slipping? I want to add a scout to my other helium stick, but can’t decide if I want a straight or slanted one.

Are any of the cam cleats rated for the size of amsteel these guys are using?
