Sciatic nerve goes bonkers if I stand still too long.Ironically my bad back prefers standing / leaning. Different strokes…
Pressure? I use an OCB and depending on the type of tree, I usually cam it over twice. Once just snug enough to line everything up and dig in, then one more time nice and tight. THEN I cam down the platform and it’s never come back up. The steps are just as tight and I can go all the way around the left side of the tree for example and have my right foot against the step….need enough tether length to do that but I keep mine kind of long. My platform with 2 steps and the OCB is the one thing I don’t see ever changing. How much pressure will your setup here take.....will the platform come unlocked?
I left my predator platform in a tree last year.no Hurry to go get it ,if its still thereTried a platform and it has its place. I've sold both of the ones I've tried. Prefer a ROS for manuverability. If I want a platform, I'll take a regular style ultralight stand.
I'm a 2 panels guy. But I tried ROS a few times and I can't say it's for me. A few steps along with a platform is great but due to the fact that one of my main criteria is feet comfort, just steps themselves hurt after a while. I have been converter to the Croc Cult, I hike in with a comfortable pair of hiking shoes and switch it out to a pair of Croc once I'm in the tree. Standing on a large platform and being able to pee against the wind while in Croc probably is the biggest luxury in the tree for me. I know some guys 2TC and ROS with Croc but I just cant.
To be honest.both walking around trees like a dog sniffin to pee on a ros,and spinning around like a Ballerina on a platform, are both over rated, and extra movements.....to much for the blacktail woods.....i have found that going back to setting up to one side like traditionole treestang guys is more effective at not being bustedI'd like to use a ROS, but most of the trees I hunt from, going around the trunk isn't an option because of limbs coming off the trunk or trunks/limbs of other trees too close. I need to use the platform to be able to turn to shoot multiple angles.
Still contemplating getting one to try, but I'd only take it in when I know exactly where I'm hunting and there's an appropriate tree. Fortunately, when I mark a potential tree to hunt from, I make a note that it's either a saddle tree or a tree for my climber. The climber trees would be great options for the ROS.

I think back cover is more important than front cover. Most ground hunting setups I do involve setting up with a big tree behind me.Understand where you are coming from but…… If it’s not a Strong side shot with either method there is a degree of movement with both methods(tree stand and saddle).
Trick is getting into position before the animal is in range….. if possible.
ROS is more stealthy than a platform as you can use the tree as cover better.

I tried those bullman platform steps and with an OCB I personally felt like they slid all over the place. Probably my error on some part.. maybe I'm just used to golden buck steps.Didn’t somebody release extra large steps last year? I’d like to try them for my first two steps next to my stick but can’t remember who makes em… anybody know?
*maybe it’s the Bullman platform steps? They about as big as we can get?
Ah interesting, thanks.I tried those bullman platform steps and with an OCB I personally felt like they slid all over the place. Probably my error on some part.. maybe I'm just used to golden buck steps.
