I just used a scrap 1/4" piece of rubber bed liner/rubber flat stock that I laid a steel fender washer on top of and used a razor knife to cut out the shape and drilled a undersized 7/16" hole for 8mm sterling canyon rope. After that I used my belt sander and cleaned up the outer edges. Took about ten minutes total. I used a nite-ize when I 1st started saddle hunting and was too much fiddle factor for me. Since this is my 1st season I have learned a few things the hard way, like forgetting to place the rubber washer BEHIND the delta quick link before rappelling. That ended up costing me double. Had to 1 stick back up after pitch dark and busted some of the deer I was hunting in my prime spot..

If you use a thinner rubber fender washer, you can still pull it through the quick link from the ground if you forget to do it before you rappel.

The only one I had laying around was a very thin one and it didn't work, but I'll test it out. I hope never to make that rookie mistake again

To see how it would turn out, I poured some plasti-dip in to a lid and let it set over night. Gonna drill it and cut a line to the center for easy on/off. It’s maybe 5/16” thick.
