Saddle hunters support thread.

Welp, I’m usually not one to buy much but when I get bit with the bug and run across a deal there’s a chance I could make a spontaneous purchase. Here’s how it went down.

I just sold a jacket and pant combo in the classifieds so naturally I was looking at a new jacket and pant to try. I was looking at the fairly discounted Scentlok stuff that I have heard great things about. It would not be much more cash on top of what I just sold to have the pant and jacket combo. Before I made the purchase for some odd reason I went and checked FL and saw their solitude jacket was 40% off. I’ve never owned a piece FL gear but Backspasm has been telling me how it helps him kill deer and I guess subliminally I just had to check it out. Well now I’m thinking I can get a fancy jacket for just a little more money on top of what I just sold, my old pants work fine. I’ve never been very cold in the legs anyways. I told myself I was going to sleep on it, but then @BackSpasm aka the enabler told me the sale ends at midnight. I figured I would just order the jacket and I can always return it if I have buyers remorse. I was about to checkout and when I had the thought that If these fancy rich people hunting clothes were pretty good they’d last me a good 10 years through the years we are having lots of kids, so why not go ahead and get pants too while they’re on sale. Besides, I made it 5-6 years in the UA camo I found in a broken tub on the side of the interstate. So yea, I bought the first “high end” pieces of clothing for hunting last night. I did not run this buy the Mrs. I’m hoping I can tell her I’m saving $300 while spending $400, she does that all the time at Costco. $100 from the clothes I sold and $60 from credit card cash back leaves me with about $275 to account for. Be on the look out for some stuff in the classifieds as i lessen the imminent blow from my 6 month pregnant wife. Lol

Oh yea and it came with a free beanie LOL WHAT. A. SUCKER.

My k4 2200 pack showed up and it's pretty dang sweet. Hoping to put it to use here soon but I don't know if I'm going to even get out in rifle season due to kid obligations (thinks about the 350 legend gun that I haven't hunted with yet sitting in the closet...). Oh well.

Bought a pair of Sitka mountain pants (half off) on Friday and they should arrive tomorrow. Looking forward to testing the built in knee pads idea although I do still like the latitude/alta strap on variety.

So much for not buying new gear for a while lol

If you dont like 'em let me know. I might take them off your hands if they are the right size.

@gcr0003 Could have gotten the Asio set a couple weeks ago that included beanie, gloves and a midweight hoody along with the jacket and pants for $299 with free shipping.
that didn’t temp me, not in the slightest. I haven’t seen anyone I know killing big bucks in Asió. It can’t be just a deal, everything has to line up. Thankfully, everything rarely does. I.e. I saw a picture of someone I know that killed a monster buck “because” of FL, I sold a thing in the classifieds so it’s like I have free money to spend, then there is sale that is >\= to 40% off, plus the sale is ending today, plus you get an extra free item! That’s the workings for a spontaneous buy.

My pics likely won't do much better than the pics/videos exo has on their site, but here it is, with and without the lid. I stuffed a pillow inside to give it some bulk but the lid is empty. 48 oz nalgene in the water bottle carrier. I have probably 200-250 miles with the frame/5000 size pack in, 50 or so of them are in the field last September, the rest were training/rucking/stair climbing miles before then. Very comfortable frame system. Haven't tried the smaller pack out in a tree yet. One of these days I'll make myself start quartering in the field instead of field dressing and dragging the deer out whole.

I am finding that as much as I want to love the 2200, it is just too small for my layers this time of year... I'm back into the originally purchased 3600 bag. Still loving the K4 setup though. Idk if I'll switch back and forth or just keep running the 3600.

Agree that it may be a bit too small to fit a full fanatic set, but there's always the meat shelf or strapping half to the outside. I need to dig those out and give it a try soon, just haven't had the weather to justify it yet

I can fit my outer layer in it's entirety, but any mid-layer stuff in addition won't go in lol. The 3600 is a bit different organization-wise, but... All layers must be able to be packed in case of precipitation, my platform/climbing method/etc. will live on the outside.
