I went to the campgrounds website and called them about 2 weeks ago. According to the website and the person I talked to on the phone, general civilians are only allowed to camp in the primitive section with an isportsman account. To camp in the RV section you must be military or DoD civilian contractor.
That is correct, also 100% disabled veteran can stay there. The people running the campground are a joke. Last time I went there they closed the tent area due to logging. They weren’t actually cutting or cleaning up anything. Wouldn’t allow me to stay in the rv section with a tent. Finally threatened to call the post commander and they let me stay.

@g2outdoors I assume you are working on clarification? If we can't stay in the tent area with a cargo trailer, and can't stay in the RV section if we're not military, does this mean it is tents only?

Cool a few more Florida hunters. I'm leaning towards bringing my tent and hammock. Tear-drop is really nice but more cumbersome. Maybe Big Country can give me some ideas about where to look for the hogs up there. This will be my 1st trip to Fort Stewart. Been studying the maps but there not that much help. I've downloaded the App G-2 mentioned but looks like there are several different maps for Fort Stewart , not sure which one to buy.

I went last yr for the first time but didn't hunt. Hung out at camp and had a blast. This year I'm planning on hunting. Plan to make several trips thru out the year.

Well I have all the bases covered, 8' tear drop camper (pictured above), tent and or a hammock. Not sure what I'll bring yet. Tear drop is definitely the best option but will cost a little extra in fuel to tow it up there. Also don't want to be too far from the activities and camaraderie. If the weather is going to be nice tent and hammock would be the easiest way to go.
Any chance anyone else is coming from Florida??? Chime in..
I'm coming from Jacksonville FL. I stayed in the primitive area last year with my Truck Camper.

@DanO I'll find out. I think the rule changed this year to tent only for civilians. I'll see if they'll make an exception for our group.

There’s literally going to be 30 or more tents there. You can haul your camping gear in a cargo trailer. Nothing would be said as long as your not running a generator.

Worst case it's "my trailer" and "his tent" ;) I got you @DanO. I think my buddy and I will drive separate so that we can have another truck there for hunting. I'm getting bacon again :)

Greg, can you find out if we can use a pop up trailer in that area without a generator?

Are there any saddle swingers from MA/RI considering a road trip to Saddlepalooza? I’m willing to drive. If anyone wants to share some windshield time and split expenses, let me know.

Looks like only 61 people on the sign up sheet. G-2 said he was going to cap it at 100. Go to page one of this thread. That's where the sign up instructions are.

Kids? I got 7 and 8 yr old daughters. Hate to haul them 10 hrs and they get bored. Is there playgrounds? If i bring them i probably wont hunt. Just trying to get a feel for it.
