Securing lone wolf hand climber

Try hanging off to the side a-la-a Bongo.... pull the climber up, and straddle the tree. Support the climber with your thigh and adjust the belt. Lower the climber back down to your feet.

I haven't tried it exactly this way yet, but I did try the laying it on my thigh part and that worked swell!

That was the way I tried it the last time and I found it to be best for me so far.I may be overthinking this but I am thinking about making a 2 step aider girth hitching it around the tree at the height I foresee needing to adjust the belt and then partially ascending with the climber over it so that I can climb down into the steps and adjust the belt without the aider tightening down against the traction belt

I think when I rotate my tether to the right is the help you need. If you just step off the platform you get kida tangled in it. If your off to the side it’s easier to pull up.
I have been carrying a 4 step aider but haven’t used it yet. I think if you put it about chest high you will be able to pull the stand to you but am not sure about kick out. Or maybe 2 one step and a cam strap.
But really I haven’t needed any of these contraptions and that kida kills the simple ness of the system.

I agree with you in that I like to keep it as simple as possible, anything new always seems a little awkward.but I do believe this is going to be my go to method thanks again for the help

guys - to secure a hand climber here is a thought - attach a small amsteel loop to the outside edge of platform. As you climb to the height you want to be at - Use a long whoopee sling to go around tree (do this below your platform and then move up to exact height you want to be at and then use a small s hook carbineer (I have no idea what they are called G2 shows them in his videos) to catch the small loop and then tighten. then climb up and hunt. Or you could just hang from your saddle and set the platform with amsteel and then step up into the platform.

not sure any of this made sense/ basically you will have a amsteel whoopee girth hitched below your platform, angled to outside platform at roughly 45 degree, attached to outside edge of platform then cinched down tight. Should lock it in solid.
