Sewing Machine Deals for the DIY Guys

Was planning on going to get this but was just told no by SWMBO. If it would be the Consew 206 i would be there.

If I had to choose I’d prefer a 206 over a 226 but both should more than capable of sewing saddles. If I didn’t already have a Juki dnu-1541 and a pfaff 545 I’d be all over this.

I would prefer the larger bobbin that the 206 has. Plus it is designed for heavier material. The 226 would work for 95 percent of what I want to do though so it is very tempting. My Juki 8700h does about 70% of what I want to do right now.

I definitely agree. If given the choice I’d take the 206 over the 226.

Any good ?

It came up in my FB MP feed. I found a “manual”. It says top and bottom feed. Looking at it, it is definitely not triple/unison feed. If it were me, I’d pass on it.

If you see a Brother LS2-B837, that is unison feed. I would take a good look at that model.

I saw a Consew 206rb-1 for sale an hour away. Asking price is $1200, which I think is high. Just wondering what a good price would be for a used 1 that is in excellent condition or at least appears to be. Looks like new one would be about $1600+ shipping.

Agree with you $1200 is to high considering what you can get a Thor GC1541S brand new for $1400 before tax & shipping.

The RB1 was made in Japan by Sieko, so consider that (if it matters to you) when you think about price.

With that said, with patience I have seen several 206rb4 (Japaenese made) or 5 (Chinese) go for under $700. I recently picked a 206rb5 up from FB MP for $500, which was a great price.

Personally, if it sews well, and is in really good shape, Id be in the $500 - $600 range - depending on what came with it (servo motor, accessories, etc). Not saying it isnt worth more or less, thats just where I would be comfortable.

Something else to keep in mind - they dont make the 206rb-1 anymore, and havent for quite some time (maybe you found a 205rb-1 new?). With that said, the machine most likely has seen some serious use unless the seller is the original owner and knows its history.

this is too far from me to consider it. Consew 226r-1

would something like this be able to sew HDPE?

The 226 is a nice machine. It isn't quite as heavy duty as the 206 but still a good 1. I'm not certain on the price but it seems to be fair if in working order and you would not have to stick any money in it.

Finding a machine is driving me batty, missed out on a really good deal this week by only a few minutes. I despise FB marketplace, the search is not meant to find what you want, only to keep you death scrolling.
Ok end of rant and back to checking FB, CL and flea bay

I’m going to look at a tacsew t111-155 today, it’s just the head. I was looking online and saw servo motor setup that I can use but I can’t find the oil pan. Are the oil pans specific to the machine or do they go by the bed size? Any recommendations on where to buy parts at?

Is it an oil pan or just a catch? Many listed as oil pan are just to catch oil dripping, not hold oil as a reservoir.

The diagram I found shows it has an oil pump and sits in a pan.

i’d be concerned about a machine with an oil pump. i have read that those machines need to be running at higher speed to get oil through the machine.

I think @sdoyle1 had one of these machines, hoping he can chime in on if it had a oil pan or just a drip pan

Yes I did have one of these. It does have an oil pump that sits in the sump pan. It was a good machine for me but when I found a steal on a Juki dnu-1541 it was an easy decision to upgrade. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
