SH1KAR Monarch

any new/updated reviews on sk1kar one stick/monarch?

@valerio024 are you still planning to do a youtube review?

Yes. It’s 95% done. I’m waiting on a strap alternative to test and include. The strap was supposed to be here yesterday but due to weather it likely won’t arrive until tomorrow. I’m hoping to post the review on Friday or Saturday at the latest.

Ordered a amsteel rope to try with the sail cleat as well. But so far I'm still having no issue with the cleat and the mini strap. Once the weather breaks next week hopefully I can do a few more trail runs up and down with it using the method and then trying the jx3 as well.

So with a Helium or 1" square tubing sticks there is no reason for a sail cleat over the Schaefer or the Harken, correct? Seems the cam cleats are vastly superior.

I mounted a Schaefer cleat to my Sh1kar and it overhangs the post but seems to work just fine.

I did this as well. I didn't have any major issues with the clam cleat other than it being a little finicky when removing the strap to advance the stick. The Schaeffer cleat made it much easier.

I hate to do this but I must. Public Service Announcement. If you have purchased a Sh1kar with the intention of using it onesticking and you can.....CANCEL your order. The sail cleat will not release from above the stick.

This is why I asked Matt to drill for the cam cleat instead.

I am the guy in the video. The specs on the cleats all mention rope diameter nothing about straps. Just trying to save some heartache for some.
So you’re S.Hesterly. I would like to thank you for the video it kept me from a financial mistake and your a reason I am going broke,my wife thanks you for that. I appreciate the efforts you and the staggs in wild boys put together for information about saddle hunting and one sticking cause we all can’t afford jet boots! I follow you on archery talk as well. You get the atta boy award!

Guys I finished my review. In my opinion the clam cleat paried with a 1/8" full bury amsteel rope mod works almost as well as the Schaefer Cam Cleat.
You were nicking the strap as well on the review video. It made my final decision on going cam cleat instead so thanks for that.

Yeah the strap is like impossible to not Nick or pierce. The 1/8” amsteel rope mod works WAY better

Thanks man.

That was a solid review. Thanks for going through everything so thoroughly and taking the time to share it. Really helpful.

I wonder if you used your boot to help supply downward pressure if it would help you not catch the strap on the edge of the cleat Matt ships the stick with.

Side note: what gloves are you using? I need to get some gloves for cold season that will work well with this process.

The cam cleats y’all are adding? Do they make one that is “plug and play” or are you drilling?
