@cutty ......Where have you been sir?

I haven't signed up yet cuz I'm still trying to finagle this. I think I have a couple guys lined up to get a few days work done for me so I can come. I'm going to try to have everything set in stone within the next couple weeks, fingers crossed.

I’m definitely in, but I want to get a couple other guys I invited to commit..... @donnieballgame are you working on a cutoff date & what do you need from us at this point??
I haven't heard anything from Donnie on the forum in the last couple weeks. I sent him some DVDs and accidentally sent him a Thomas the Train video and left the archery DVD in the DVD player. That's the last time I've heard from him. I sent him a message the other day and he's yet to respond. @donnieballgame you out there?

Yeah, up in NH on vacation, well sort of, tons of back pain, probably looking at surgery, trying to get a second opinion, but I'm really tired of lots of crazy drugs and not being able to do anything like sleep, lol! Hoping I don't miss the whole season, fingers crossed.

When I clicked on the sign up sheet there was no one on it. Is that actually the case? I had this exact trip planned! I am very excited to see that others have the same interest.

I think there are several hunters interested, but we all like to procrastinate and wait till the last minute.

Man! @donnieballgame praying for ya brother! I had some crazy back issues for years. I’m on the other side of it now, but thought I was gonna need surgery as well. Mine ended up greatly responding to big weight loss & some pt. Not saying that’s your case, but lack of core strength was prob biggest contributor. I can’t stress enough what difference a solid core makes, in life but esp saddle hunting....

My back issues are most relieved with consistent deadlifting in the gym.

Low reps (between 3-5), moderate to high weight, low sets. If doing them every day I do 2 sets of 5, 3 sets of 3 or maybe even 5 sets of 1 rep if going heavy.

If going 3 times a week I’ll do between 3 sets of 5 & 5 sets of 5 depending on weight.

Higher reps at low weight had minimal benefits.

Increasing core, back & leg strength helped tremendously.

If I keep the set & rep volume low & the weight in moderate to heavy range, I can do them 5-7 days a wk without pain & consistently get stronger.

This regimen keeps me on the fire truck without surgery or pain.

My dr has actually stopped recommending high rep low weight programs to most pts now.

He has taken up this himself and can’t believe the results.

Surgery? That sux. I hope you don't have to miss out on the hunting trip you planed. You have been dealing with this for a while now. What's the diagnosis?

I would tell you I have been this living with a ruptured disc since 1987 courtesy of college football. Cross training is perhaps the best. Stretching and strengthening those muscles around the injury to protect the injury. That is why you have pain and inflammation, your body is protecting itself.

Anything you can do to avoid surgery. Once a fusion is done it puts pressure on related discs. A herniated disc where they can snip off the protruding bulge is one thing. I would encourage you to only use a neurosurgeon for your back. A lot of orthopedic docs do back surgery etc. but you want a neurosurgeon. I have a family full of doctors. LOL. At family gatherings, I feel like the idiot. LOL

I’ve heard good things about stem cell therapy for joint issues.

Looks like my second opinion was a waste of time, they didn't even want to make an appointment to see me, or even look at my imagery. Ugh this crap sucks, time for a third opinion I guess.....not sure I have time the way these things work, surgery scheduled the 29th...
