No problem @denots, good luck with the family sounds like a tough situation, thoughts and prayers it all works out! I still need to figure out the cutoff date, lol!Well when I first heard about this trip I was about 25% sure that I was going to go. By the end of the first week I was about 85% sure. Within the first 10 days I was 99% sure. In the last few weeks my wife and I have petitioned the courts to take custody of my 16 year old niece. My sister is not happy about this nor is my mother. It has created a lot of turmoil and I am not sure how much they are going to fight me. Depending on how much money this new twist in my life will cost will determine whether or not I can make this trip, but I'm still planning on it. @donnieballgame please keep me posted as to weather or not there will be a cutoff date.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to my first Saddle hunt this season. I have learned a lot in here so far. I hunt all over the state so this setup is going to be ideal. Wish I would have jumped in to it sooner.Welcome to the forum from another MIchigander.

From what you posted here in your video this is pure mud motor country so to,speak. Is this area or any other Assessable by canoe or is this what we face?
There are areas accessible by canoe and jon boat ... but what may be accessible at high tide can be mud flat by the time you need to leave the hunting grounds.. and they wont let that go as an excuse the refuge police will still hammer you. im not saying don't bring one but I would plan to hunt on foot the first day and watch the water levels where you plan to boat to see if you will be able to make it... this stuff is no joke ive seen videos of guys even with mud motors having issues of being under powered.@suicyderider

Spot onAs far as shot placement.. these animals are SMALL they have an amazing will to live and they live in swamp... that being said blow up the front shouler make them bury their nose in the dirt... if u think ur going to blood trail them ur in for an awakening.. ull be following air bubbles from heir hoofs in the muck but bloods hard to come by... eliminate the ability to run ur much better off.. or get lucky like me and spine em.

I would say it’s a little different. This is a animal that you cannot hunt anywhere other then a couple spots on the Easternshore. These tv shows haves whored out the animal that md easternshore is proud of. That brings out a huge crowd now a days. Personally I think it helps out the county and the people that live there. There are a lot that hate that it has brought the crowds though. They are a very hard animal hunt and are totally opposite of a whitetail. I consider a close whistle, growl, moaning a successful hunt. Hopefully luck is on your guys side.I look at like this. They are locals hunting Federal Lands. We have as much right to hunt there as the locals do. I hate that attitude.
