Single Most Favorite Piece Of Clothing

Yup. Not even close. Totally different glove. I want thin “base layer” thickness and softness and dexterity. The Sitka were too thick. Overdone.

Less is more in this case. Basically a liner glove minus 2-3 fingertips.

I wear functional gloves climbing and setting gear or while walking when it’s colder. This is strictly for the sitting. Though I have destroyed all mine through using them while working during hunting and fishing trips because I don’t notice they’re there and I’m undisciplined. Try to leave them in my pack until in a tree so I’m not tempted

My big issue is having a light weight glove with a smooth slick palm as it’s way better for bow grip form.

That is a tough one ehhh. I’m going with either my Scentlok wind brace pants or my Columbia out shield dry fleece hoodie. The pants I can wear pretty much from early season into late season, they have a nice exterior that keeps the clingy, grabby crap off and they fit my misshapen body well. The Columbia hoodie is probably hands down my favorite piece because of its versatility. It’s wind and water repellent and has a stupid awesome draw string system for the hoodie. It’s not cut like a V but instead is a solid piece of material so the wind doesn’t shoot down your gullet. It layers well under an outer layer but can also hold its own with a base layer underneath.

I recently have acquired a lot of new stuff so this may change, but as of now I have to go with my Pnuma heated vest. Love it and greatly appreciate it when needed. It has actually kept me on stand longer on some days and it’s barely noticeable

Underwear. :p:tearsofjoy:

If I had to pick one piece for the frigid temps it looks like you hunt (based on your profile pic), underwear wouldn't cut it. Maybe IWOM or HBS. Good god, at leat a union suit.

Mine isn't necessarily hunting related but, it's my mid weight Columbia Merino socks. I bought a couple pairs on clearance at STP and they quickly became my favorite Merino socks by far. Next time they became available on STP I bought all 12 pairs they had in stock. I wear them daily.

King of the mountain wool shirt jacket purchased second hand from @Vtbow . This is only second in favorite clothing item overall to a custom tailored jacket I had made while in Italy. And I have worn the KOM basically every single day the temperature is below 65 degrees since I bought it. I've received more compliments on the KOM jacket from the gen pop than I can recall. It's kind of weird actually.

A very, very tight second is the Cabelas broadhead pants/jacket suit set I purchased on clearance at recommendation of hunting buddy for 100.00. If I had known how awesome it is, I would have purchased 10 sets and vacuum sealed them for future use. Perfect Camo, Perfect interior loft, Perfectly silent. Only nitpick is the same I have with any hunting pant - they should completely zip off so they can be layered without removing muddy boots, or dragging them through the pant. Besides that, 10.5/10. I'd pay more for this suit than any comparable sitka, first lite, etc - for stand hunting specifically.

Honorable Mention: Simms 3 finger fishing gloves, merino wool. Like anything good, not available anymore. Friend is charter captain on pro staff. Bought some on a whim, and they're fantastic for hunting. Went on clearance and we each bought 5 sets. That was a few years ago, and I have worn through all but one pair because I use them so much hunting and fishing. It makes no sense to me that someone doesn't offer a high merino wool content liner glove with at least the thumb and index finger cut off for dexterity. Another item I'd buy in bulk if available again.
Based on some pics and videos I've seen i think first lite will be releasing this at some point. Best I can tell it is their aerowool liner glove in the same configuration as the sitka fantic glove.

Wait a minute. I don't remember a post about this in the Hoody thread. You trying to keep this one a secret?
Lol shhhhhh. Can’t talk about fight club.
Did I not share it? Oh my. Well here it is then:
The description doesn’t say wind resistant but since it’s water repellent and so densely woven it’s fairly wind resistant. I’ve worn it in the rain and stayed dry, I don’t know about a downpour but sprinkle or even light rain I was fine. They’re thicker than they look. I dunno that I’d pay full price (I loath paying full price) but it’s at least a $75 hoodie to be sure. I like em so much I bought three, one for hunting and I keep two at home, it’s pretty much my goto year round, wear it to the kids soccer, to the store, chores, around the campfire and whatnot.

I'm a gear nerd and have a bunch of favorites but top 3 are Stratus pants, Incinerator muff, and North Mountain Gear Leafy suit... something about wearing leafy top and bottoms that makes me feel invisible and can wear what ever I want underneath.

I was just looking around online. Do they not make the stratus stuff in subalpine camo?

Holy cow KOM is expensive. I had never heard of the brand. Looks super nice though. But I’m also a big fan of a shirt jacket over a coat for every day wear.

How do you layer the heated vest? They look pretty slim fitting, but I assume it’s not worn next to skin. Might have to add this one.

This is a good question. Last two years it’s been the Klamath hoodie. I have them for hunting and work

Already mentioned but worth another. Merino wool base layers. Pretty much worn on every hunt from mid October to mid January. I sweat like a mother on the hike in and used to freeze once I got to my tree. These things dry in 15 minutes and don’t even stink.

Nope. Never have. Elevated Forest and now EV2. I don't think they ever had it in Mothwing Mountain Mimicry or Ground Forest either, but maybe. The Jetstream jackets used to be more like the Stratus, but they're more different than they once were.

The buffalo wool company American field bison wool socks. Nothing compares and I've tried everything. Warm, light, extremely comfortable and dry fast. Also wash very well. $54.99 a pair but well worth it.

XL seem to be in stock once in a blue moon, but I've heard good things. Have you compared them to their other blends? I've seen the Merino/Bison blend in my size, but they say the Field sock is their best, so I wait.

I wish they did.
I sold my Stratus jacket for basically the same jacket in subalpine... it's called the Jetstream. Most of my layers are in subalpine.
My stratus pants get a ton of use and I usually wear leafy pants over the top. I'm not a fan of that Elevated camo pattern but late season I do bust out the Incinerator bibs that's in Elevated.

Funny, I found their field socks to be the worst of their big 3. I like the silk socks and thicker socks better than the field. And the field had by far the worst durability. That's after 6 uses you can see my finger through the seam20220717_195741_compress30.jpg20220717_195728_compress29.jpg
