Single squirrel step on platform strap.

I do this with a cranford step. It works great.

I'm using Ameristeps on my platform strap. 2 on the side and one on the back.

Have you completely unloaded the RR and just used both steps? Curious if that would "promote" uncamming of the RR. Waiting on my RR and I am hoping this works.

Yes I have and no issues. For reference I'm a 180 pounds.

I tried this and it worked great for me. I’m right handed, added a squirrel step on the left and use the top of my last stick on the right.
I did have to cut the end off my Tethrd strap and remove it from the buckle to get it through. My wife just folded over the strap after buckle install and restitched the end for me.

I just cut a slit on the front side of my squirrel step to slide the step either on or off. If I need it, I can slip it on the strap when I hang the platform and it doesn't bang around. Works great.

I tried putting one on my predator platform a few minutes ago. I ran into a snag in that to get a step on the platform strap you need to remove the buckle. To remove the buckle you have to cut the end of it off where it is doing led over and sewn. It won’t go through the buckle that way. I suppose that’s there for a good reason.

With an Ameristep, the slot is only 1/64" too tight to get the Predator stap thru. Hard to believe that 1/64 would make a difference, but I tried like hell to get that tag end thru...could not do it.
I took a drill bit (forget the exact size) and hogged out the slot. I now have an Ameristep on each of my 3 Predators.
And yeah, I know. Altering gear voids warranties...bla bla.

Three Predators? No wonder they’re back ordered. Lol

Two gen1...the 2nd one was sent by mistake but I bought it from them...couldda just kept it and nobody would have known, but I didn't want to screw those guys.
When the gen2 came out, I figured....why not? Cha-ching.

I’m going to hunt with a ROS only tomorrow morning and see how that goes. Then I’ll try a couple steps on the predator strap. I’m thinking the ameristeps are a little more stable seeing they have a wide profile next to the tree. One step at a time (no pun intended) before I start altering gear.

Anytime you add a step to a strap try this trick with a shock cord. Use a zip tie for an adjustable cord lock and add it to the step/strap. It keeps the step in place when you set up or wrap up. And depending on how tight you zip the tie, the shock cord can be lock solid or adjustable so the step can slide on the strap with effort. But it never slides to where you don't want it when you are setting the stand. Cam the stand, and the step is always exactly where you want it...never too close or too far from the platform. Zip ties are the best cord locks for shock cord, and the smaller the tie, the better it bites into the cord. Ive been using zips for years. The work great.
The "X" pattern in my pic (on the ROS) is better than the one on the tree pic. The "X" style can never fall off. The parallel could conceivably come off...the X cannot.

Good idea. Never thought of using zip ties for shock cord. That’s a great idea too!

Be careful when zipping them...go one click at a time when you start getting tight and test it. Zip it as tight as you can if you want it non adjustable or for a lock on the end of a cord loop, but for an adjustable loop, the tightness is critical...too loose and it slips and too tight and it won't adjust. Once you do a couple, you will get a feel for it. Put an adjustable loop on the end of every rope or strap of gear that gets wrapped up. You will always have a nice, neat, rattle free bundle when gear is wrapped up. No more floppy tag ends.

The end of the predator strap does not need to be cut to be pulled out of the buckle.
