What material will be the main loop? The rope adds cross section to the area the carabiner is applied, but nothing for strength. I got the idea from Cbigbear and how he does it doesnt add strength. You slide a piece of rope into the tubular webbing and tie an over hand knot just outside the rope. Guess Im also confused why you guys arent just using the 2 main loops on the sit-drag as your lineman and bridge connection?

I'm planning to use the main loops of the SitDrag. I'm talking about stiffening them up so they're easier to use with carabiners. I have webbing loops on my RC harness that I use to preset trees in the off season. Those webbing loops (similar to the SitDrag) can be a PITA to use with my lineman belt because they're flopping around and don't always remain open.

I want to avoid that hassle with the SitDrag loops by stiffening then up with wire, tubing, plastic etc.
is your bridge tied directly to the loops or are you using carabiners?
Tied directly. Actually I'm going to attach 1/4 amsteel with fixed eyes lock stitched. I'll post pics and video of the process when I get it finished.

That's exactly my plan as well. I'll just leave the biners attached to my linemans rope and stow them away after I climb. I think having no metal in that area will be a big plus and one less thing to fail.

Ok, just thinking. Carabiners at least provide a hard connection point. The loops on the sit and drag are fairly stiff though, aren't they?

Mine are fairly stiff after I rolled them together in the middle and sewed them. They hold their shape pretty nice.

The way you sewed your loops may eliminate the need for wire or tubing. What do you think? Do you think your sewn loops will work very easily with carabiners?

I haven't hunted or climbed yet with mine but so far just messing with it at the house I am happy with how the biners hook up after I sewed them. That seems to hold them open and made them stiffer so it's definitely easier!

I sewed my webbing loops up this weekend. I ended up not using wire or tubing at all. I folded the loops into thirds and hand stitched it with the sewing awl. They are nice and stiff, hold their shape and work very well with carabiners.

Yeah, this looked like it would work from FA's pic. I think it will be my first mod when I get my Sit Drag this week. Will also be my first use of the Speedy Stitcher. Not a critical stitch so I figured that is a good start!

The speedy stitcher is VERY EASY to use. Follow the instructions in this video and you can't go wrong.

I also recommend adding a belt to the SitDrag. I think out of all the mods I made, this is the most important one.

The way they show their product being used will surely put your legs to sleep. Both straps will create pressure points. You can sit like this for awhile to take weight off your legs if you choose, but I dont believe you will be able to sit long without pain and or legs falling asleep. Move that to your pocket area(rump) with a hair height tether and your in business. Even if you did use 2 of these, you would want the lower one on your rump and the other at your lower back.

Yeah, this looks like a must as well. After that, I hope I'm done. I'd like to keep it light. But I know I will want a foam seat... and some back support... and fork to keep me off the tree...

All of those upgrades are easy with the SitDrag. Except the fork...I'm not sure about that one.

I liked the foam mod. And it looks like it could easily be undone or used without the foam.

But I have a Web and would really like to get something on the other end of the spectrum...

You're right about the foam. It's easy to use the SitDrag without the foam. I worry the foam will make it hot in the early season and I'll probably leave it at home.

If it's comfortable enough without the foam then I won't add it. But I am kind of spoiled swinging in my Web. So any hip pinch and I will want to do something about it.

I'm hoping I can figure out the Belt Mod. I'm sure it will be easy when it arrives...
