Sit drag x 2

so here is something i have been playing with. its not perfect, and perhaps you guys can add some ideas to it. I started by cutting a couple of short pieces of 3/4 pvc pipe and drilling a hole through them to allow the carabiner to pass through.

Then I put them on both sides as shown.

then a piece of 3/4 oak dowel cut to length can be used to hold the two pieces apart. you can leave the pvc in place and just carry the dowel.

I also have been playing around with a "T" built out of pvc that can pivot on the dowel.

the pvc "T" then will hold the dowel away from the tree similar to the fork on a GW. Then when you stand up to shoot, the "T" pivots down and rests against your belly/pants.

Does this make sense? My goal here was to position myself away from the tree and also alleviate some hip pinch.

Thank you for the video! I'm in Missouri also, southwest now, I grew up in central MO near Lake of the Ozarks and hunt there as well. How does the plywood seat attach to the harness or you?

I just wore the seat like a bandoleer over my shoulder while I climb then when I got to hunting height I would attach my lanyard to the tree, then clip the carabiner to the from the seat into the lanyard. After adjusting taking some of the slack out I would slide it over my shoulder and down under my butt and I was ready to rock.. If I wanted more back support I would clip an extra strap into the biner to use as a back rest.

Have you given any thoughts about what you are going to do about a platform? On private property I've been using screw in steps but I'm still looking for a viable strap on step option that isn't going to cost a arm and leg or weight a ton. I've been using a 2x4 steps on a ratchet when I'm not able to find a tree with limbs to stand on.

I would guess this would dig into your abdomen making it uncomfortable.

I would guess a fat guy tried this a few months ago, search fat boy spreader in the diy.

Actually it's more forward than it looks. I just didn't have help to take a picture with me in it

How can it be "more forward" if the spreader is stabilized by the biners that hold the hammock?

Another think you might want to consider is the stress on the biners. They aren't designed to be loaded in that axis.

Yeah, I was in a hurry to take pictures this morning. I actually made the pvc so that it can lock into the bridge at the top of the biner to prevent the side load. I think the reason it sits more forward for me is that I put the seat under my thighs instead of cupping my but. I will try and recruit my wife to take a couple pictures with me in it tonight.
