I need help spending or saving, the choice is in your hands. Had been totally set on getting Tetherds one sticks when they come back and ready to bite the $450 bullet (for 4 sticks). The whole 1 lb thing really had me excited. With the current flash sale and word of rising prices though, the $225 difference between them and the skeletors now may end up being closer to $300 which has my looking a lot closer at taking advantage of this sale. Is saving 4 lbs worth it? Or is 15% off too good to pass up?

No 4lbs is not worth it. Not even a little bit.

I also hear the new ones with be a little heavier and they still have the potential to have wobble in the steps with only 1 pin holding them in place.

The skeletors out perform most sticks double their price.

With the money you save buying the skeletors pick up a Gen3 predator…lol

I have a strong feeling this increase is going to be substantial like in the 10-15% range. I bet the ones will be ~$150 each

Only two choices LOL.
Since you are only 31, 4 lbs is not a big deal.
Spend the money saved on a good pack.
I agree with enkriss, and I would not take a chance on the new and improved One Sick.

The weight to me is a non-issue when you consider all the other features are close to the same save for a huge price difference. The Skeletors stack similarly but have better standoffs with more boot room, fold up, have the same connection tab, similar packing footprint, but $56 a stick is easier to swallow

I have Skeletors. Never used the one stick. Don’t know why I would, the Skeletors are that good.

I'm interested in the skeletors also, but don't want to buy a set unless i know they have the updated standoffs. anyone receive a new set with the beveled standoffs?

According to this post, you don't get the new standoffs until you bend the old ones.

Ordered skeletors. Being delivered today. Couldn’t justify the cost difference for the weight savings as mentioned above.

I'll preface with I'm not much of a tethrd fan and their consumer beta testing releases, nor am I an ounce counter. But the weight of the one sticks is incredible if you get a chance to handle them. It's almost hard to believe, a bit of a mind**** the first time you pick one up. I gotta give it to them, titanium was a smart innovation. I'm in for their gen 2. I also handled the skeletors at the outdoor show, nice sticks, certainly get the job done. They are comparable to my heliums but they don't stack as well and have a slightly smaller step I believe. The stacking issue could be resolved with a mod.

When I talked to Ernie at the GAOS he said one sticks will only be offered in a 3 pack once rereleased. Guessing it's a shipping issue. Sucks because I wanted to get 4 sticks but I'm not buying 2 packs at whatever the new increased price will be

They were offering them in 3 and 1 packs.

I was tempted to get the one sticks. I think I heard they will be an once or 2 heavier than last go around. But it highly depends on price. They were already pretty up there in price and now an increase…eh…probably gonna pass.

Really, you expect anyone to believe you are not buying the updated one sticks? Dude you are totally buying a set.

I think the weight difference is going to be dependent upon your current system's weight. I've whittled everything down to where without water and extra clothes (because that varies) my entire pack weighs 15 pounds (my climbing system is 4.5 lbs). If I added 4 lbs to this, I would notice it and not like it. I won't buy sticks until it is the same weight or less compared to my 4.5 lbs system (12 tree hopper steps with amsteel and carry bags).

so still going with a single roll pin? I'd buy if they would go to a bolt or 2 roll pins.

Boy if you read the comments it's pretty clear skeletors are the way to go, but the voting isn't quite as clear. The main draw to tethrds sticks for me are the stacking pins and the rope/connectors. To be able to get the skeletors for $52/stick shipped w/ tax I just had to do it, ordered a set last night. I figure at the current price and rate of inflation I can probably get a decent return in a year or two if it comes to that. I've spent enough this winter, it was time to make an economical decision. Plus I really like that retractable aider idea that was posted for these the other day.

The voting is reflective of the vast majority of weight weenies on this site.

You gotta realize I'm coming from a 10+ year old summit stand here. I haven't weight it but I"d guess with the xop straps its about 18 lbs and carries like a brick s***thouse. (4) skeletors + an EDP come in around 12 lbs and fits will within the footprint of my pack, which carries a whole heck of a lot nicer than the treestand. I weighed everything with my EDP and mod'd helium stick at just under 22 lbs (including saddle and rappel rope). (4) one sticks would weight roughly the same as my current setup with the platform and single helium. With the skeletors I'll be up around 26, which is more than I envisioned, but this isn't really meant to be my 'mobile' setup. More of my 3/4 mile or less setup when I know roughly where I"m going to setup and will be wearing the saddle in. I"ll just tote the helium on days that I want to wander. I'm sure after a season or two I'll start experimenting with lighter methods.
