Can't eat a miss. I'm sure there are ladies that could outshoot you and me. Show some evidence you shot a squirrel. Were I come from a gut shot squirrel makes you sit at the ladies table. Not that I haven't done it, but there is no photographic evidence of it anywhere.
Squirrels, in the trees, at 100yds, with iron sights? You should shoot competitively, you would win every time.I have a Henry 22 magnum and absolutely love this gun. Open sights and have no problem shooting squirrels up to 100 yards. Just make sure to shoot different brands of shells and find out which one shoots the best. Congratulations on your new Henry.

Nice shootin' iron there!!!
Headshots only with the 22 marlin magnum. It make skinning much easier. You don’t want a body shot.

I don't deny being shown up on shooting by ladies as my wife could out shoot me most of the time with a little .380 hand gun we used to have. I've not taken any pictures of squirrel kills as I just eat them but I've killed more than my share in the last 60 years because, like I stated they are mighty fine eating. Not meaning to disrespect the gut shooters out there as, like you said, can't eat a miss. I tend to throw a little humor around in the form of good natured ribbing. Glad you are throwing it right back at me.Can't eat a miss. I'm sure there are ladies that could outshoot you and me. Show some evidence you shot a squirrel.
With the 17HM2 the trajectory is within about 1/2 inch of line of sight out to 75 yards so those long shots are doable. With a 22, gut shots at that range would probably result in a non recovery. With the 17HM2 the shock is so overwhelming that any hit near the spine is instantly fatal, in my experience.
Mallard sweet setup you like the scope on it and what power

Yeah that thing is cooking! The .22LR that I posted doesn’t have the velocity or ballistic coefficient of the .17HM, hence the almost 6.5” drop at 100yds for the .22LR vs. your measly 1” drop.
