Tab, glove or other

I would ask to buy one from you to try but that would go against the challenge you issued. Lol
Seriously, I like the simplicity of it and the ability to keep track of it... nice work.
Send me an address and I'll drop one in the mail for you. Mine are cut for 2 under (2 fingers) so I can easily feel the pressure I'm exerting with my ring finger. I could make a 3 under though if you'd rather.

I can’t speak for others or the origin of the plate tab but for me its just a locator.
When I bump it up to the string it lines the string up to where I want.
Some plates fit between the calluses at the base of the fingers and so are narrow.
My plates are wider as I like it to sit on the horizontal line next to the life line as the hand tends to cup when taking the string.
It just feel right..

Makes sense, I always wondered too

I prefer using shock cord rather than paracord or other cord that doesn't stretch.and I may or may not be known for pairing zip ties with shock cord. Haha, I have versions all over the house for all kinds of stuff. Wife make fun of me.
Make the zip tie just the right tightness and it makes the shock cord adjustable. Not too tight, not too loose. Works like a charm.
The hardest part of making my own tabs is finding Horween cordovan. It makes the best tabs. You'll lose it before you wear it out. Gets better the more you use it.
If you have a choice of the thickness of the leather, go with thicker because you can always take the backside to a belt sander to adjust how thick you like it. The leather onthis tab was a little thick. 20 seconds, and light pressure on the belt sander and it's just right for me.
