TEAM 1 THREAD

Had to sit one out this morning. I’m not sure what I’ve done but I’m having some issues with a tendon on the front of my shin that has made walking a challenge since Wednesday evening. Dorsiflexion is painful but the palpable crepitus is more concerning to me. I’m hoping a few days of babying it and I’ll forget it ever happened.

Easy @bloodsoakedberber those are some fancy/big words for this site.....haha

(Wanted to say for a guy from W. Virginia but I did want you come after me....100% messing with you)

Hope you get feeling better, it certainly stinks get old. BTW I'm a male nurse so feel free pick on me.

Haha all good. I can handle some state oriented ribbing for sure. I’m just glad it didn’t happen a month from now.

Not much to report. Got my second sit of the year today and saw nothing (though, heard them moving while I was packing up after shooting hours). Probably won't get out next weekend as it is the youth gun season; the following weekend I am stuck working overtime.

We got wet today. Dried off in the trucks and went back at it. Ended up seeing a couple doe and a really big bodied thick horned Y buck up close. All came from bedding to the oaks

today reminded me why I don’t hunt in the rain. When everything is as wet dunking it in the bathtub it’s a pain in the butt

Was back at it again this evening on a spot I scouted two weeks ago. Still loaded with deer sign but I only saw one doe tonight right at 6:30. Not going to lie with what I saw on the ground sign wise I thought for sure I had a good opportunity but just not the case. Just wonder if they are hitting in the dark. It’s so close to bedding I have a hard time with that but who knows

won’t get back in the woods till Thursday or Friday. Looks like a drop in temp at the end of the week

Took my 11 year old daughter out last night for her first sit in a tree stand, I sat in my saddle right behind her, we had a lot of action including this shooter at about 150 yards. We passed on a mom and a fawn as my daughter gave me the thumbs down on shooting her. Awesome experience having them at 5 yards until she caught our wind and stomped the wheezed at us for 20 min.

A little interesting tring to get a crossbow, my bow, my saddle set up and her down the tree in the dark but we made it safe. Overall, a great night just made better by her getting to experience it with me.

So far killed 2 coons and had a young Tom bobcat at 5 yards. Had a tag last year but not this year. Takes about 3 years to get one in Illinois. Have 2 shooters I’ll be after Friday with this cold snap. Gl all.

You need a tag for a bobcat?

No tag needed for bobcat in WV but the season doesn't open until Nov 5. I've only seen one while hunting and it came directly under my tree the last weekend of October. One of my favorite trail camera pictures was from 2018 or so of a bobcat carrying some small animal in its mouth.

Yeah our limited season is in 11/10-2/15 for the select few who draw. I would really like to get a big Tom stuffed up. That’s the second cat I’ve seen while hunting but by far the closest encounter and first Tom.

Spend most of the day scouting but also carrying the bow of course. Walked into an area and followed the buck sign down into an area where I said to myself "I feel like I am in or very close to his bedroom". Took another few steps and heard a large deer run. Never saw it. Located the bed and followed a trail that ran parallel with the creek and found a heavily used creek crossing. I wasn't able to hunt this evening or I would have set up in there at 12pm when I kicked him up.

I ended up getting out of that area and decided to take a walk in another area. Not too far from where I sat Monday that was loaded with sign. Found a lonely oak overlooking this that had a lot of sign under it as well. Can't use cameras here so I have no idea if its evening or during the night activity. Makes it tough without cameras.
