Team 1 Thread

Well I finally got out last night on parents place. Found a somewhat brushy spot for climbing up 1 stick. Not the most comfortable climb with a bad neck but got up there. Passed on a 5pt n 8pt. Dark tined 8pt be a dandy if he makes it. Only ones that came within shooting range. Cant shoot anything less than 15" wide, just a deal Dad n I got. Took 3yrs to get him to cooperate lmao. Lots of does, hoping to be on the board this week. Felt good to be out, paid for it overnight. Go Team 1!!

Scouted a new place after work today. Found an old grown up fence row with 4 giant persimmon trees that were absolutely loaded. Saw 8 does headed to it on my way out. Hoping to put a few points on the board this weekend.

Shot a doe tonight, unfortunately it was from the ground.
It was real windy here today, and I decided to make a quick hunt after work. There was a doe feeding under some oaks out in a field when I was walking in, so I snuck down an old fence row and was able to get into 40 yards and made the shot. She ran about 30 yards and crashed.

That sounds like a really cool hunt! Congrats. No worries on points man. we in first place!
 
Yesterday afternoon was my only hunt last week. First time in that spot this year.
Snuck around with my 'handicap' bow for the last couple hours of daylight. I had a pretty good Scout. The deer still live where they lived last year.
Saw 3 does and 3 bucks.
The first buck was a young half rack that probably would have been an 8pt.
The second buck was a fuzzy little button buck that came right behind the tree that I put a ladder stand in about 7 years ago for my daughter and I to hunt from. I climbed up in it for a couple minutes just to check it out.
The third buck was probably close to 135" dark horned 8pt. Heavy and perfectly semetrical.
We got within 27 yards of each other 'till the wind shifted into his favor. That's fine though, I wasn't gonna shoot him anyways. He caught just enough scent to know i was there, he didn't act too alarmed.

Sounds like a good first hunt man! I’d have already flung 4 arrows out at a 135!

Yeah that's the stupidest laws I've ever heard of. If we had that in oklahoma I wouldn't get to hunt in October at all.


I also did some scouting/pig hunting mid day with nothing to show except taking a gnarly fall in a dry creek bed. Right foot slipped on a rock, took the edge of a rock to the outside of my right calf. Sore, not seriously hurt.
 
just saw we went into second place. Only by 3 points. a doe will get us back in the lead yall! I have been getting blanked these last few hunts. Im out of town all this week. But I have set aside a bunch of time for last week of October and first 2 weeks of November. Do yall have any rut vacations coming up? Who's out in the woods?
 
I'm heading out in about an hour. but can't get out again until mid/late next week after today.

I need to look at the rules again. I can submit 2 does and later upgrade one to a buck right?

Shot another one last nite. Can we throw back a doe and add a bigger doe for more points???
 
Went out last night. Had a black cat as my arch nemesis. Blew 6-7 does n fawns away couple seconds before was gonna dump a doe for points. Thought maybe a buck was coming but fooled ya. My surgery got moved to end of November now, they better give me better pain relievers than what Im on cuz I aint gonna make. But on the other hand, im going up in the saddle a lil higher than im supposed to now being I guess its not that important of a surgery to them. Didnt hunt Monday cuz wanted to have a barley pop with my bowling team, being Im out for the year and this guy rolled in at 5:36pm. SMDHScreenshot_20231016-182055_Reveal.jpg
