Team 1 Thread

Well it doesn’t help the team any but I arrowed a buck last night at closing time. Arrow has a little blood on it but not much. Zero blood at shot site and no blood trail anywhere to be seen. He went into the most ungodly thick blackberry thicket I’ve ever seen. Decided to back out since it was gonna be a low of 25 last night. Started the search first thing this morning. Nothing. Called a hound dog guy in and we finally found him. 25-30 yard from where i hit him. Perfect double lung shot. He was dead within 20 seconds of the shot. But it took me 20 hours to find him. Doh. Front and back quarters were still good as well as back straps. My best Public land buck to date.

Bucks are really moving does n fawns all over around here. Cold weather Im sure is helping. Passed on 8 pts 2 nights in a row & had Eagles meeting last night so hopefully tonights the night. Idve shot the bigger of the 2 ( 16" wide max) but hes on my pops property and I already winged one there, so trying to save him a crack at one for gun season. Im waiting for my wounded warrior to return. I have him on camera at night again. Thats my target buck on that property. Lots of does there too so points wont be a problem later in year. Its really weird only being 7ft off the ground. Go Team #1.

didn't go back and look but if this buck is better than your entered buck you can upgrade it

I was out last evening. Saw 7 turkeys and no deer
My first one was a young spindly 9 point. So this latest buck is actually worth less points even though he's 3 years older and carries much more mass.

Congrats Phil!! That's a great deer.

In typical oklahoma fashion, it's 75 degrees in November. Making a sit for a doe but could possible end up killing the big mature buck I've been after for a while.

Yes I brought the training wheels today, don't judge me. Screenshot_20231104_142546_Gallery.jpg

My compound instead of my trad bow lol. I was going to hunt 100% trad this year but with everything that has happened, I haven't shot my recurve in over a week. Felt more comfortable killing a deer with the compound tonight than risk a bad shot with the recurve.

I'm doing ok honestly. My two girls have kept me going. Set a ground blind for my oldest in preparation for rifle season to come in and our late season antleress around Christmas. She's not shooting but at least she can go. She has three show pigs that we've been working together. My youngest has been her normal sweet and loving self.

My wife is doing well physically, mentally post partum depression has begun to set in. Between both of our mothers, my best friend's wife, his mom, and his MIL she has a ton of support behind her.

We had his funeral Thursday and brought his remains home as well. I have a spot picked on our property I'm hunting now to bury him this spring. It's a spot under a giant black oak where a ton of memories have been made, and even more have yet to be. Have a friend thats making a sandstone headstone to set over him, I'm contemplating a small fence to keep the cows out of it.

That's good to hear man.

Well of course, the only deer that shows is the buck I promised my sister I'd let her kill. He walked to the base if my tree and looked up at me. Then walked off like nothing happened.

On the board…should be 2.5pts, but I’ll take the 5 lol. I could have stuck her in a suitcase. Guess someone had already popped her mom because she was alone.

It's always been a joke at deer camp, that if you can't say something good about somebody's deer, than keep your mouth shut. Soo, look at them ears... Good job. Besides, anybody can hit a big one !
